God didn’t want a race of robots who did not have a free will. God had to allow the possibility of evil for us to have a true choice of whether to worship God or not. if we never had to suffer and experience evil, would we truly know how wonderful heaven is? God did not create evil, but he allowed it. if he hadn’t allowed evil, we would be worshipping him out of obligation, not by a choice of our own free will.

God gave Adam & Eve everything they wanted.
He wanted to see how obedient they would be to him so he told them that they could eat the fruit of any other tree in the garden but just to leave this one tree alone. He told them that if they did eat from it there would be a consequence - death. If they had left it alone & not disobeyed then they would have carried on living & so would all their offspring. (Genesis 3)
Romans 5:12
The tree of the knowledge of good & bad isnt the evil thing (as you implied) but the influence from the devil to disobey God's command not to eat from it. They had plenty of other trees with fruit in abundance so they didn't need to follow the devils blatant lie (that they wouldnt die) and disobey God's request.
The devil has been influencing mankind in one way or another from that time down to today. He uses many cunning ways to get people to disobey God's commands.
One way is by false religion so that many believe that thay are following God when in actual fact they are serving the devil's purpose.
Another way is by the fact that many don't even think he exists. A prey who doesn't even acknowledge that there is a predator is very vulnerable indeed.

Light is a symbol. Moses 7:30 30 And were it possible that man could number the particles of the earth, yea, millions of earths like this, it would not be a beginning to the number of thy creations; and thy curtains are stretched out still; and yet thou art there, and thy bosom is there; and also thou art just; thou art merciful and kind forever; God has been indeed creating for hundreds of millions of years. Heb 1:2 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; We are not the first or the last. Heb 11:3 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. But is created by the power of God, and they come rolling into existance constantly. We are a spec, on a spec. Moses 1:35 35 But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you. For behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them.

Ok MAT , you first have to realize that the tree of knowledge of good and evil is in fact the ole 666er himself ... Satan. That's right folks , it was him. And since everybody can think the way they want , there will always be those individuals who want to do bad things for any morbid reason that crosses their sh!t box of a mind.

He wanted to know that His creations had a choice to obey and worship Him, no matter what. This includes sacrificing of yourself for Him. The tree was to test their willingness to sacrifice their own desires to truly follow and obey Him. And it isnt neccessarily the tree itself that was evil, but the temptation of the serpent. God wanted real people with free will.

As per the bible, evil already existed prior to the tree of knowledge and Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve ate the apple, which allowed them to become aware, for without knowledge there is no awareness.
Perhaps God always intended Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge. Sometimes, God does work through the devil.

God did not want Adam and Eve to sin. God knew ahead of time what the results of sin would be. God knew that Adam and Eve would sin, and would thereby bring evil, suffering, and death into the world. Why, then, did God put the tree in the Garden of Eden and allow Satan to tempt Adam and Eve? God put the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden to give Adam and Eve a choice. God allowed Satan to tempt Adam and Eve to force them to make the choice. Adam and Eve chose, of their own free wills, to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit. The result – evil, sin, suffering, sickness, and death have plagued the world ever since. Adam and Eve's decision results in each and every person being born with a sin nature, a tendency to sin. Adam and Eve's decision is what ultimately required Jesus Christ to die on the cross and shed His blood on our behalf. Through faith in Christ, we can be free from sin's consequences, and ultimately free from sin itself. May we echo the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 7:24-25, “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God - through Jesus Christ our Lord!”

You really don't understand Genesis, er. at all... do you?
The tree of knowledge didn't create evil, but made people aware of such. Evil existed prior to people.
BTW... I'm not a Christian, but I have read the Bible. Try it sometime, with intent to understand.
