because most people are narrow minded and don't think. There still seems to be a general belief that all Muslims are trrorists, which of course so many people have not figured out yet Not to be the truth.
Religious acceptance and tolerance are still the most difficult for all of us to learn. Having lived in various countries during my life so far, I have discovered only two things to be different, no matter where you go: Language and food! Apart from that we are all the same, and I wait for the day when humanity will realise that!

Because we're afraid of them. What we've seen is a complete disregard for human life. It's frightening. That faux Mickey Mouse cartoon Hamas started is telling kids to kill and that Islam will have world domination. I'm sorry, but that's just frightening. I realize all muslims aren't like that, and I feel for them, but frankly, someone has to do something, and they haven't done a thing to stop them. At least we do something about our crazies, we don't just let them spread it around, we eventually stop them.
I don't even know how many times I've heard people saying we should just nuke the entire mid-east. I always say there are innocent people, children, how could they even joke about such a thing. Looks like there won't be much in the innocent childrent department to use to counter with much longer, not at the rate they're training these kids.

some muslims are horrible people and dont deserve the name....even I as a muslim fear them. But most muslims are not like that and I dont see how bashing us will solve anything. If you look at some of the questions here some people are holding us responsible for the actions of people across the world. what will discriminating against moderate muslims accomplish anything? Whats the point of hating us if we have never done anything wrong?! give me all the thumbs down you want I really dont care anymore

Because we're a country of biggots.
You have your outright racists, and you have your subtle 'private' racists who are far too middle class to come out and say it too often.
Muslims have a lot going against them:
- The country's down on immigrants anyway, and to most people, immigrant means non-white and being born in this country doesn't seem to count for much.
- The whole war on terror creates a lot of bad publicity.
- Islam is very easy to read as being very anti-everyone else. As usual, it's all a matter of interpretation. One of my friends is constantly peeved that Jihad is synonymous with holy war, when it can also simply mean sacrifice and suffering for what you believe in.
- People don't really understand the religion, there are a lot of mixed messages because the sects of Islam are so diverse, and people fear what they don't understand and try to use their rather novel opposable thumbs to bash it with sticks. Just like back in the caves.
