since i visit yahoo answers i see that every day more christians are just accepting the most obscure parts in the bible and putting aside the deeper messages. Are people becoming more superstitious instead of more spiritual?.
examples: people believe about creation, the devil as a "someone", antichrist, jesus coming back, hell, heaven, end of the world (they picture it full of Special visual effects) instead of the message that may be behind all that, would they allow themselves to think of all these just as metaphors about something deeper.
Are christians swimming on the surface and not daring to dive deeper???

It has always been backwards. It holds onto outdated ideas.

Religion is just organized superstition.

the anti christ is a prophacy which means that it will happen. and then Jesus coming back, is a promise that Jesus made. some christians, most christians, are afriad to dig deeper. however the understanding of the bible with bible scholors isnt being misinterperted.

Bring on the deep questions and lets have a go.

Read and study the bible to see if there is a backward flow, don't base your understanding of Christianity on what you read on Yahoo!answers!!!

If you take these things out of Jesus' message, there is nothing left.
BTW, Satan is not a person, he is a fallen angel.
All these things you have mentioned, are taught in ALL the Gospels. There is no way to disgard them. You are preaching a false Jesus if you do.

um the devil was always described as a someone, hence the word "he" put next to his name. a metaphor is easy to recognize: it will be in a vision or parable. everything else is literal.

as far as I'm concerned, you've got it backwards if you think everything in the Bible is a metaphor.

It has always been going backwards, Paul the disciple in his day even quoted that some already have started to teach their own Jesus Christ.
