A typical Christian-

If I believe that god exist and he doesn't, I have nothing to lose but if I believe he doesn't exist and he does, I might go to hell so, I would just believe to stay on the safe side.

A typical Atheist-

If I dont believe god exist, they claim I will go to hell but what if hell doesn't even exist? Are they trying to control me with fear? Now i'm even more suspicious. I'm a good person so if god does exist and is sending good people to hell, he's evil himself and can't be trusted.

The God Delusion was #8 on the New York Times bestseller list, #10 on Publishers Weekly, and #2 on the Amazon best-seller rankings in November 2006. At the same time, Letter was #6 on the Times list, and #8 in the Amazon rankings. Meanwhile, an increasing number of atheists are attacking our Christian faith in several major newspapers and websites—with their evolutionary beliefs often presented.

Christianity, especially as believed by Catholics, who believe that their church is the one founded by Jesus Christ, is supposed to be a religion based on love, on turning the other cheek. So, why would a Catholic that I know of, who constantly "professes" his/her belief in the teachings of the Church, make evil remarks to and about someone he/she disagrees with? Why would this person say they are tolerant of other races and religions, but be intolerant of a differing political view?

Pagans have been viciously persecuted by Christians for very protracted periods. They would be wholly justified in despising us. Atheists on the other hand have not suffered at our hands much at all,yet they are rabidly hostile, almost like dogs. With only a few exceptions,I've found pagans to be quite decent toward a faith that they could easily justify defiling as the atheists do; and yet for the most part they do not attack or insult Christians. I would be curious to hear from Pagans on this.

Religious people wear crosses to show their love of god and jesus. Why can't atheist wear necklaces that show their love for not having a religion? To show the world that they can live through life without believing in god.

So someone copies three page-downs worth of text from carm.org, or answersingenesis, or wikipedia, or anywhere else. I admit that I will often give a thumbs-down not exclusively on merit, but rather because I don't want to scroll past it as I go up and down, reading answers.

I think it's kind of bizarre that Y!A hides answers you don't like - it seems like official sanction to never think about contrary opinions to your own. (At the very least, I'd like an option where you can choose to hide or not hide unpopular answers.)

But I always feel a twinge of guilt doing it. I don't read the answer, I just hit page down three or five or seven times to get to the bottom, and I give it a thumbs down. Not reading it, I'm not 100% positive that I don't agree with it.

So what's the threshold for thumbs-down? What's the confidence interval? Is 95% sure that you won't like the answer enough? Is there a brevity requirement for a good answer?

Are not the hosts of heaven children of God?
Is not Christ you older brother? (also Satan. He was a Star of the Morning until he rebelled).

Or does it?

I'm wondering, because the Immigration section is getting REALLY bogged down in the hate lately (a latest "goodie" is people getting upset over "white girls" having immigrant boyfriends) to the point that it's almost scary. I'd really love to crunch some numbers and see if there's a religious correlation.

So.... what's your religion and do you have a problem with immigration (legal? illegal?) to your country?

Anyone know of a site like this where people of all religions can RESPECTFULLY ask and answer questions? It's very hard to see people just plain bashing each others beliefs in such injurious ways. What is the solution?

I should probably bring two bottles. The liquor stores are closed today, so this is what I've got:

RED:

- Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Shiraz

WHITE:
- Cabernet Blanc
- Pinot Grigio

Mark 10:19-24
"Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
"And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
"Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
"And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
"And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
"... Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."
