Not even. Religion isn't the reason people are fighting now. People are fighting over resources and power. Iraq is about which group will control oil revenue. Religion is just the justification they use. It's also a good recruiting tool. Maybe Bush should check into it.

Whether there was religion or not if human dismissed their own self interest there would be peace in this planet. Religion wont exist if human were not misguided.
The interest to oneself, to one race to one nation that what made the world in a havoc state.
We need not set example what disastrous events had taken place in this planet among humans let alone all those other creatures that living too.

There will never be peace in this planet as long as there are greedy people. religion is just being used as an excuse to drive ppl apart. even if there is no religion, greedy human will find other ways to step on other people and steal. religion gives ppl morality, peace still exists becuz most ppl knows their boundaries and have divine rules to live by.

No, if religions did not exist, it would not be a more peaceful world. Study the cause of wars. I doubt that you could find a single war that was actually over differences in religion. Wars are fought over politics, government, economics, resources, propaganda, etc.

Your assumption is that the only reason we lack peace is because of religion.

I watch a lot of TV shows. I see people getting into trouble or suffering for many reasons, and religion is seldom the issue. I see all kinds of problems arise in my life, and few of them have anything to do with religion. As long as you have people in proximity with other people, you'll have tensions flare.

So the answer is no -- tensions will continue if there were no religion.

Hm.. well I figure animals don't have a religion and eventually one animal species kills off another, but in a more logical fashon (one on one for food/mate, no planned takeovers). Religion seems to help speed things up quite a bit but before religion in anothropology there was territory concepts too.

Not necessarily, no. People are still greedy, selfish and hateful without an absolute moral code to hide behind.
If there was no God and no religion there would still be conquest, hate, oppression and all the other unpleasantness of human nature. Take away God and people just have less things to hide behind.
