Integrating our technology into our bodies. We are about to change the mechanism of evolution dramatically.

Despite religious protests, I think man has continued to evolve over the last couple thousand years. We're bigger & stronger than ever. But there's no longer a physical, biological need to evolve - we've created technology that gives us whatever we want - thereby removing the necessary competition for continued evolution. We no longer need to compete for food, mates, or territory in the same way (although you'd swear there are still cavemen around in a singles bar on Saturday night). I think the next step will either be one of the mind, such as telepathy, or one that's in response to the poisoned environment we've created. I actually suspect the last one may be true, as telepathy is not a survival trait. I can see a nuclear war happening (not global though, that would finish everything), and perhaps certain humans manage to survive the radiation and evolve new physical traits because of that. I'm not talking mutation because of the radiation, but in response to it. There is a difference.

We already have a perfectly workable form of telepathy, and it works around the world. They're called mobile phones.

It present very little evolutionary pressure is being applied to humans, because we can keep people alive and breeding who would have died out years ago but for our technology. I would have died in early childhood, in my mid twenties, and again in my thirties. Unfortunately I'm still alive, but the universe is clearly trying to tell me something, so I'm not reproducing.

There's not much chance of developing telepathy using only our meat. Meat doesn't transmit data, not receive it. If such a thing were possible, lions and antelope would have developed it millions of years ago.

i understand what you're getting at but.....

evolution does not occur in steps per se but more as a continuing process (unless you factor in the Hardy-Weinberg principal and it turns out a poplulation isn't evolving).

though to answer your question...
I'd have to say that telepathy isn't essential at this point.
Though I can say that I don't quite know what exactly is ahead of us...only time will tell...although technology might have some role in evolution.

telepathy- we have no actual need for it as of yet. we can not pick and choose what developments the human species will have, only speculate based of off predictions for the distant future.

Im with you because i believe that people who have telepathy use all of their brain. Normal humans cant. I think people in the future will be able to use their whole brain therefore using telepathy.

I think it would be man made, such as stem cells,or types of implants for communacating, with each other instead of cell phones or even the internet. This would then make the world smaller in doing so and without communcation breakdowns i.e.language differences, there would be less violence, big brother will be able to see what your up to ending violence, murder, robbery etc. They know where you are all the time no more child stealing ,kidnapping.this would then give us time to put our other godly sources to better use ,world peace. As john lennon said in imagine no more countries no more single leaders we do for everyone ,and everyone does for all.

Without doubt, the next step in evolution for mankind is absolute perfection.

Except you can't reach that state until you've died.
Then, you'll perfectly enjoy Heaven for Eternity, or in Hell you will perfectly endure unimaginable torment Eternally.

Imagine having a body where your eyesight is perfect and you can see for limitless distances the suffering of those around you and can do nothing to shut out their torment.

Imagine having the perfect sense of smell of burning flesh that is never consumed,

Imagine having the perfect sense of touch where every pain receptor in your body is lit up with an incomprehensible intensity of pain that never dulls, never subsides, and will function like that perfectly for Eternity.

Imagine having perfect hearing where you can hear the screams of those eons away as though they were right next to you. And those who are next to you seem to scream even louder in your perfect ears.

Finally, imagine having a perfect sense of taste where in your mouth you can actually taste agony. You see, in Hell, your tongue will cry out to God for mercy, but for all Eternity the sound your voice makes is ...

"Jesus is Lord!
You are Right and Righteous Oh Holy God!
In Hell I will praise you for all Eternity."

And you will.
Imagine having to do that forever and ever and NOT against your will.
And still be in Hell.

Now that's Hell...that's evolution.

Weird, I was just about to say telepathy before I read your full question.

Actually I'm not sure if you realize this, but we are going downhill.
We are devolving not evolving.
Either you believe things will start getting better or that things will keep getting worse until Jesus comes.
Which seems to be the case in the world? By the way, I am not a pessimist.
