Anyone know of a site like this where people of all religions can RESPECTFULLY ask and answer questions? It's very hard to see people just plain bashing each others beliefs in such injurious ways. What is the solution?

Do not let people to ruin this experience for you. You can always give a thump down to an answer, and they disappear and you do not have to look at it anymore. : )

Your church, maybe?

There's an old saying that you shouldn't talk about religion and politics at a party, because those are two topics that people have EXTREME opinions about, and it's easy to rub someone the wrong way.

When you get a thoughtless, crude answer, you have to think a minute about where that person is coming from. Maybe they've been really hurt by religious discussion in the past, and are just venting. It's not fair.

Maybe the best policy is to ignore the crap, and be thankful for any good answers.

But I agree with something up-thread who said try a religious forum. There's no way you can carry on a serious discussion about religion in this format. All you can get is one-liners and maybe a brief discussion if everyone uses their Edit button. Lurk awhile, and see if you feel comfortable.

Sometimes the ones who give those answers do so because they are really searching to see if Christians are any different than any other so-called belief system. If we are just like the rest of the world then what's the point in considering Christianity as a viable option for life. Take these answers seriously. You don't know what the result will be. You may meet the answerer in heaven some day because of your response to them.

The solution may be to check out your local churches rather than using the internet. When using a global form of communication you have to be intelligent and mature enough to handle the wide variety of answers you will get. You need to learn how to take the bad with the good. Dealing with reality doesn't involve looking for filters that will only provide what you want to hear.

I would suggest getting involved with a local Bible study. Even if you're just investigating your faith most bible believing Christian groups are not the judgmental, self-righteous, bigots that they are portrayed as in the media and in forums such as YA. Meeting people face to face has a tendency to weed out the cowards who hide behind the anonymity of the Internet in order to spew hate.

I doubt it. It's the anonymity of the internet that allows some people to respond in such a rude way. They would never dare to speak to a person like that if they were looking them in the face.

that won't happen unless the site is moderated, and would require registration. ..
that is my wish too, but it is hard for some people I notice, particularly in religion and politics forums who are so absolutely convinced of their beliefs, that they shut out any discussion. it can often be rude , so the best thing is to ignore what you can, and take what is useful... and we always have the 'vote thumbs down' option!!

There are plenty. Try finding it using yahoo's search engine. Another option for future reference is to let the people know what kind of people you don't to answer you in the additional comment section.

Not on this site.

Potentially, no where, for there will always be those that feel an expression of faith is a license to proselytize and those who have no faith are doomed to hell.

Which is a shame, as I feel that both can come together and express their views, while respecting the other's
