Christianity, especially as believed by Catholics, who believe that their church is the one founded by Jesus Christ, is supposed to be a religion based on love, on turning the other cheek. So, why would a Catholic that I know of, who constantly "professes" his/her belief in the teachings of the Church, make evil remarks to and about someone he/she disagrees with? Why would this person say they are tolerant of other races and religions, but be intolerant of a differing political view?

No one "died and made me God". I'm not "judging"; I didn't say this person would go to Hell or anything....I just said that he/she makes nasty comments on a personal level, to people who do not agree with his/her political stance. Personally attacking someone is NOT a Christian way to behave, no matter who God is!!! (I don't remember Jesus saying that Pontius Pilot was a "puke")

You can ask this question to anyone of any faith. As for me, I'm Catholic, and we are called to show Christ to everyone we meet. We are called to BE Christ, in a sense. Those of us who don't cause scandal for others, especially the non-believer, who might have been considering God but now turns away because of the distasteful behavior they saw from a Christian.
Again, your question goes to all people. We are called to show Christ and to be Christ, and when we don't, that's on us. Myself, I do my best to concentrate on my sins more than the sins of others, because I am not better than anyone else, and I need God's grace to get better, and to be a better example for others.
God bless.

Hi. I know how you feel. I once had a friend who sometimes forgot she was a Christain.
Now something you have to remember is that "religion" is man made. Catholics are not Christians. Christians believe in the entire Bible and the Ten Commandments.
Ex. The second comandment is---do not idolize. Catholics still idolize statues. They pray to statues; believing they can actually hear them.
Also remember the Bible says that not everyone who praises God will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus said, some will come to me and I will tell them I never knew you. I'm not saying your friend will not enter into Heaven. I'm saying she just might not be walking right with the Lord during this time of her life. Why? I do not know. What I do know is that arguing is not from the Lord.
The Bible says our hearts decieve us. The best thing to do is pray for your friend. Ask that her walk with the Lord be strengthened. Sometimes people forget that Jesus is not just their Savior, but their Lord [whom we obey] as well.
Soul-mind
Spirit-Holy Spirit [Guides you]
Flesh-seeks pleasure
*The flesh can not understand spiritual things. The Holy Spirit wants to guide people to make the correct decisions. The Spirit and Flesh battle with eachother to control the mind.
***"What starts out as our ideas and thoughts, become the birth of our behaviors."
So yeah, prayer is the best thing to help your friend overcome the temptation of ---basically having the last word.

I think you would have to define what or who is considered a christian. By today's standards a christian is just about everyone, for instance if your parents are christians that would make you a christian [ that's today's definition] but that's just one aspect of distorted thought, another would be to bow before or give tribute to an idol, and you really think that's what christianity is about? Foolishness, you can't be on the devil's side and in God's side because it is written do not make an image neither bow down to it or then my anger would be flared against you says the L-rd. So... I will answer your question with this, how deep are you willing to go into the rabbits hole, or in other words how much can you handle of the truth? Would it be ofensive to you, or will you let the truth influence you, for it has been said: I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father but by me.

Just like every other Christian in the world, Catholics are sinners trying to become saints.
Most will fail occasionally. A few will do horrible things.
Ever since the Apostle Peter denied Jesus three times and went on to become our first Pope, the Catholic Church:
+ Has been full of sinners
+ Is full of sinners
+ Will always be full of sinners (until Jesus comes in glory)
With love in Christ.

I think your first mistake is thinking that politics and religion go hand-in-hand. As a Catholic I am to love my neighbor and all the other things that you mentioned, but I do NOT have to agree with political views, in fact, I have been known to have heated discussions on politics.
Second, you should remember, that the Bible says "through their fruits, you will know them as Christian."
If it concerns you this much, talk to this person, and let them know how you feel about the way they conduct themselves. Perhaps the passion for the Church or politics, over-rules the other.

For a start....Christians and Catholics have one God but of different way of practice and application. If you are a Christian, ask yourself, what do you think Jesus will do? As children and follower of Christ; we are commanded to help and share the word of our God; the bible says so. Spend time sharing what God said through the bible to your friend. Save him/her. Or invite your friend to a Bible study... God will do the rest.... pray for him/her. God Bless!
Matthew 7
Judging Others
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

Some people are just hypocrites--they spout religion and Jesus, but they are mean and hateful and only see things their way! Ignore the @ss who would try to tell you how to run your life. Obviously you learned your morals and beliefs in some loving religioin. i think that the Catholics that I know are pretty liberal and that they are open-minded and cool. Why the person you ask about is acting like a jerk is something I can not explain. Maybe he/she is a frustrated gay, or something....and can't get the church to see his/her point of view.

It's impossible to answer this question without specific details:
What was/were the political view(s) in question?
What were the allegedly "evil" remarks said by the Catholic?
This information is necessary in order to answer the question with any semblance of accuracy - as well as honesty.
