What are some of the initial temptations you have faced in your walk with Jesus Christ?

Obviously a lot of previous behaviors have to be adjusted. I'm trying my best guys! LOL

No, but seriously, what have you found that hinders your walk with the Lord?

Feels really good though. It's just so scary!

God Bless

I got into this nasty fight with a close friend of more than 15 years, we hardly talk to each other now but see each other every day at work. 3 months ago I came down with a very rare and painful disease. A spiritual guide, someone who works with chakras told me that my former friend is so envious of me that it might have made me sick. Does anyone believe that this could be possible?

My church is moving to a new location. We are changing the name of our youth service, which was previously called "Area 51" (the 51 is a reference to psalm 51, so it's not completely random). Does anyone have any ideas for a new name? Preferably something short and modern. Thank you!

Somebody please explain this to me. Tonight I've seen christianity touted as 'The Most Peaceful Religion' which is absolute garbage. How easily we forget the wars we've started in the name of our 'god'. Remember the Crusades? Remember the Abortion Clinic bombings? Hell pick any story out of the bible even, 2/3s are full of violence. Yet nobody wants to admit that... its "in the past". Its amazing how we can excuse ourselves of our wrong doings and yet criticize, threaten and condemn others for theres. What gave you the right? Since when has faith in god given you leave to pass judgement? Who are you?

One genius went so far as to link the great evils of the muslim nation against us; and those who opted for a less tyranical role were nothing but "Blind Liberals".

Why are liberals "blind" to the obvious?
Politics & Government

What happened to 'love thy neighbor'? What happened to 'Vengence is mine'? Why can't you practice what you preach? I think christians believe, they *are* god.

Why are there so many obvious and blatantly inappropriate questions posted here on R&S?
Do they think that the rest of the world is dumb?
Is there a place on this forum where we can have an actual intelligent discussion and debate without all the name calling, bashing, and hatred of different cultures and beliefs?

Thank you,

2Pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2Pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

I'm not a Christian, but I like to read many religious texts. Anyway, I just came across this literal translation of the Bible. I figure it's better to have a literal translation because then if you are good with languages you can figure out what they mean in English yourself. I think during past translations of the Bible people translated it so current culture could understand, and there are probably many symbols we don't get.

Exp of the difference:

(YLT)John 4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and were wondering that with a woman he was speaking, no one, however, said, `What seekest thou?' or `Why speakest thou with her?'

(KJV)John 4:27And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

I think the differences are subtle but could lead to different interpretations.

Does anyone use this version?

I know this has probably been asked a million times, but, how could a loving God send any soul to hell, regardless of whether they believe in him or not, how can a person be sent to a prison of fire for eternity simply for not committing to a religion, I personally try to be a believer, but I cant do it, I am full of so much doubt, yet I cant totally turn away and say its all false, if there is in fact a judgement day will I be able to plead my case there, and accept God at that point?, or will it be to late?

You've all been great, lots of fun today. And I'm leaving a favorite quote of mine for all my friends on R&S.

"My message to you is:
Be courageous!
Be as brave as your fathers before you.
Have faith!
Go forward."

Is it possible he could return as an african woman born in the congo? Where does it say that the second coming will come exactly the same form as the first?

I have heard from Christians that when Christ returns, most people will be led to the antichrist. Does this fit in with that?

im not a Christian, just curious about the religion. Please dont attack.
