This is a tough question, and I'm not sure If I can give you a good answer on it but I will certainly try. It is a poor reflection of Christ when someone says "Christians are better because.." It should serve as a reminder that we are all sinners and are all in need of a savior. Christianity in and of itself is not and should never be about comparing itself against other religions in the world, it's about showing the world who Christ was so that they can share in the same love that we as Christians have. However, to answer your original question, Christians are called to be peaceful with everyone around them, we are continually exhorted to do so throughout the New Testament (1 Cor 13:11, 1 Tim 2:2, etc.). Yes, the Old Testament is full of warfare and violence, but throughout the OT the message of God's love for his people and his plan for the salvation of all people everywhere rings out. The crusades are a different matter, and a long story. Is there justification for Christians to act in that way? No. I don't think that anyone can justify what happened in the name of Christ. The only thing that I can think to add to this is that I know that I am personally called to live a peaceful life with all those around me and share God's love and message with them as well so that others can have same relationship that I am able to have. Sorry if that doesn't answer your question. Let me know if I can do better.

I don't think we have a superiority complex. I'm sure you've met some self-professed Christians who DO, though. Nobody likes the self-righteous and there is a very fine line between being righteous (which is good) and self-righteous (which is bad). The apostle Paul talked about this one quite a lot. Anyway, Christianity is for everyone, not just white people, and not just for Jews. Jesus was a semite, you know. He was born into the nation of Israel, after all. Here's why Christians are righteous: 1. The entire Old Testament (history of the nation of Israel and their relationship with God the Father) was leading up to the arrival of the messiah. 2. The New Testament was the story of the fulfillment of God's promise. Jesus' birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection fulfilled every prophecy of the Old Testament. 3. Jesus proved his identity over and over again by healing the sick, curing the diseased and raising the dead. He, Himself was resurrected from the dead and was witnessed by hundreds of people before he ascended to heaven. Buddha didn't do that, Mohammed didn't do that, Hindus can't claim that. Jesus created a "New Covenant" between God and everyone on Earth. Ya just gotta jump into the water. :) Anyone interested in deeper discussion (no preaching, I promise) contact me via email or messenger.

First off, I really really really dislike it when people decided to take a group and start bad mouthing it because of what others in that group have done. Why are you blaming this generation for what generations of the past have decided. Why are you blaming millions of people for the mistakes of a few. Most of us do practice what we preach, it's just that people don't normally do news stories about good Christians following the Bible and preaching the Word. Christians like that don't make history. People only focus on the mistakes of a few and blame a whole group for those mistakes. If you want to lash out against those individuals be my guest, but don't you dare become a hypocrite and blame people that don't deserve it. Who gave you the right to make assumptions about all Christians. Who gave you the right to judge us like that?

as a muslim i agree that some not all christians believe that they are better than all other religions but the fact of the matter it's like that w/all religions. the difference is i'm not shoving my beliefs down anyones throat or yelling at a people and telling them to go back to the country especially when you are an african american princess like myself. the bottom line is i have friends from different religions and guess what we all get along. you want to know why b/c we respect one another' beliefs and we ask questions bfore we assume things. i don't need to ask as i grew up in a family church so i know all there is to know a/b christianity. i decided to get back to my spiritual self and started reading the bible and got to the story of lot(AS) and came across where it said he committed incest w/his daughters and you all have the nerve to talk a/b prophet muhammad(s,a,w) it says in the quran to have respect for all life. you can only take life in war in defense and not be the agressor. stop confusing extremisim with the rest of the religion or the people who practice it. take tthe time to meet and ask us some questions and you will see that we're just like you. we believe in the same god ,jesus mary,abraham....... we just have differnt beliefs in there roles well not god of course he's the creator of us all. no doubt in that. but everyone else has different of opinons. and btw. allah isn't a different god it's just the arabic word for god. the arab christian and jews use this name as well. just a lesson for you all who think we muslims worship a different god.

Arn't you generalising....these are extremists in the same way Islamic extremists flew into the world trade towers.
Yes a LOT of wars are started by religions. A lot of conflicts about religion, but the MAJORITY of anyone who holds religion as central to their lives does actually hold life as important.
Some people use religion to let off testosterone surges...as the majority would be male...so blame the males instead!!!

You are right, of course. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace. It's a fitting title for him. If only those who claim to follow Jesus' teachings would do so. They would if they could see. It would require recognition of the delusion of self, because it is self that wants to fight, to defend it's delusionary importance, and satisfy it's desires to be "right". That's a concept normally addressed by Buddhism, but not by Christianity. I think an important obstacle is the belief that asking Jesus to be your savior is all one need do. Obviously, we all must work fastidiously on awareness, in order to practice what Jesus taught.

Not every one who says they are a Christian is a Christian. The bible states it's by their fruits you shall know them. If they have the spirit of God and the fruits of God will be reflected in their behavior. Another thing too is that there are believers who also hurt and may require healing in their lives. There was one point in my life where I was quite harsh with others because I didn't quite understand what gentleness was among other things? It was when I saw God's love, mercy, grace, and compassion for my self that I realized a number of things. Some believers have to come to that point as well. Another thing God knows who his children are so we also have to be careful not to judge others.
Galatians 5:22-25
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Another thing is that while those that believe will also have they opinions based on what they believe from a more bibicial stand which will also go against those who do not agree with them. I don't agree with abortion and I certainly don't agree with violence will always resolve what others choose.
I can tell you that I heard the most saddest story about abortion from a gal in my teens and she regretted ever going through with it. I didn't judge her for it because I don't know what it felt like to go through that ordeal my self but I do understand that what she went through was very painful. I felt very badly for her because it hurts to see others hurt.
I also believe that there are people out here that say they are christians when they are not believers to begin with mainly because they want to cause trouble or do damage to those who are christian.
I do not believe that I am God nor have I ever thought that I was. God is God and I am human being whom desires to have the likeness of Christ in my life. I do believe in practising what I believe but I also make mistakes too because I am also human which means I sin as well. I am also going through my own healing in my life which also means that I also hurt like most people do. If you expect Christians to be perfect we are not only God is perfect. In the same way we judge others God will also judge us.
If we have not love then we are nothing but a clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13
Love
1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.

I think many Christians are losers who can't make friends so they delude themselves they are in a personal relationship with the most powerful celebrity they can think of ... and it's a bit like celebrity name dropping..."Oh I hang out with so and so" but in this case the personal relationship claimed is with a fictional Biblical character who is supposedly all-powerful.

I am a believer in God and that was very well said. Those Christians who do not have a serious spiritual connection with God tend to have the "Holier than thou attitude" I stick to the # rule, "LOVE" with no conditions!

Those you refer to are not all Christians, they are "some" Christians.
Answer, they are mistaken and are misinterpreting the Bible (aka twisting it) to fit their own goals, They are NOT Glorifying God, and that is inappropriate behavior.
About the liberals, it is not just the obvious that they are blind to, anything beyond the end of their noses is also included LOL
