I'm a 20 year old Christian male who doesn't believe in miracles. For instance, people believe that if they're sick with a terminal illness and they pray to God, they can be saved.
What does that say about the people who pray to God but aren't cured of their cancer? What did they do that God wouldn't help them? Are they not worthy? How does God choose who to save and who not to? Why are murderers, atheists, and rapists cured of a disease while a young child isn't? Why didn't God help the child?
I know I'm just rambling but I want to hear people's opinions. And please don't give me any of that "God has a plan" or "God knows what's best" B.S., because hopefully everyone, including God, can agree that a young, innocent child dying of brain cancer is not a plan of God.
So basically the question is: Do you believe in miracles or not? and why, based on the questions I've provided.
Thanks.

This is the response I gave someone that emailed me;I wanted to see who agrees or disagrees with this.

This is why inorder to properly understand God and His word, faith&logic cannot be separated.Faith is needed in order to understand that God is the authority and what He says is truth.Logic IS needed along with faith in order to come to a correct interpretation and conclusion of what God says in His word and to properly understand the things that God does.Faith&logic appear to contridict becuase people make the mistake of separating one from the other&ultimately end up at flawed conclusions. They must be used together to understand correctly.Same goes for many things in the Bible. What appears to contridict are actually meant to be merged and understood together not just separate.

Agree or disagree with this? Please explain why?

Believe it or not, I am very open minded. I have been a LDS for quite a while, and I don't think there is anything anyone could say to me that could change my mind. I am however mature enough to answer questions, and consider other people's point of view. Bring it on.

I am taking a diversity class at my university. We have to answer what a religious leader thinks about all of the following questions. If you are a religious leader of a non-denominational church and wouldn't mind adding your name (or an email address so I can send you mine) please answer the following questions:

How do you feel about/what are your thoughts on:
1. [Public] School Prayer
2. Teaching of evolution
3. Teaching of sex education
4. Possible use of the best articles in Playboy to study literary styles in high school English classes
5. High school reading of short stories and novels on diverse life styles and values
6. Unmarried teachers who cohabitate with the opposite sex
7. Public school dances
8. Interracial dating
9. Pregnant, unmarried students attending public high schools
10. Planned parenthood clinics

And finally, what would your response be to the following question:
11. Why does God bring children with disabilities and handicaps into the world?

If you have POWER, then flight requires no special tools. Wings are physical instruments used by birds and airplaines to create lift. All very scientific.
Oh the ironic silliness.

On a different question I saw many people saying that someone who committed suicide cannot enter into heaven. For the people that believe this, can you provide specific biblical scriptures for your belief?

ughh, everyday I see a christain on the board and bitching about pagan and wiccan religions, how they will go to hell blah blah blah. should they mind there on bees wax and stop stickin there noses into other religions and believes?

Christains "hate" other religions, dont tell me that you dont..you do. dont give me this..we hate the sin and not the sinner crap..thats just to "cover" up the issue!

Enough is enough, get over yourselfs. stop sticking your "christain" nose where it dont belong.

You hear 'God Bless America' the most. Why do most people have the conceit and ignorance that they can tell God what to do?

God will bless what he/she/it feels like blessing. No one can and should never tell God what to bless. Who the hellll r u?! That phrase is absurd! To truly honor God... It should be 'Please God could you please bless the United States?' (America = north and south america so saying united states is correct since most people really mean the united states not the whole america) That's what I say cuz I have respect for God (the Christian one).

He could of had real psychological problems and was a ticking time bomb. while i do think this is very horrible do people really have the right to judge him evil? He very well could of been insane and calling an insane person evil is like making fun of a mentally disabled person...

An Anglican priest, the Very Rev. Jeffrey John, has said that the traditional explanation of the Crucifixion is "pretty repulsive as well as nonsensical."

"What sort of God was this, getting so angry with the world and the people he created and then, to calm himself down, demanding the blood of his own son?" Dr. John said.

"And anyway, why should God forgive us through punishing somebody else? It was worse than illogical, it was insane. It made God sound like a psychopath. If any human being behaved like this, we would say they were a monster."

So, Christians, does your faith have more diversity and contain all sorts of interpretations of its seminal events & beliefs, or do believe these statements condemn Dr. John to eternal torment?

Assalamu Aleikum,

My family and I would like to extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy for the families of victims of the horrible and sensless crime that took place yesterday. We all the children of Adam and Eve unit in paine as you grive for the loss of your loved ones. We will pray that your hearts will heal and recover from this tragedy. The Holly Quran says:

بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمـَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُواْ إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
2:156 who, when calamity befalls them, say, "Verily, unto God do we belong and, verily, unto Him we shall return."

Peace.

I once asked a question to Christians asking that if I were sinless in every way, but was not religious, would I go to heaven....everyone of you said I would go to hell

So would you same people think this guy deserves heaven if he was, in fact, a religious man that just snapped?

Neighbour of mine once told me, she doesn't want gay people moving into our neighborhood because, "How on earth am I going to explain to my children about two men holding hands!"

I have had absolutely no problem broaching the subject of homosexuality with MY kids. On a family trip to NY, my daughter saw men holding hands etc. and she was non plussed about it. It was only when her other cousins started giggling about it, she asked me about it and I told her simply,
"Well just like a man and woman sometimes love each other and want to hold hands, two men or two women might also love each other and want to hold hands. They are called homosexuals or lesbians. They are people with feelings just like us and we must not make fun or tease. Treat them like you want to be treated."

Case closed. It never came up again. Nor did it turn my kid gay. Even if you disapprove and want your kid to do so as well, why are you so squeamish about it? Is it because it has to do with sex?

Okay, we're both Baptist, but I was raised to believe things differently than he was. His father and two of his uncles are preachers, so it's kind of hard to argue with their logic, BUT, I still believe the things I do, and it's difficult to sit through church and disagree with some of the things his uncle preaches..

They don't believe in the rapture, I do.
They believe we're living in the tribulation now, I believe that will happen after the rapture.
They believe that if you die after being saved, that you will go to Heaven, even if you've sinned. (Say you die while drunk driving.. I don't think you can get into heaven unless you were somehow able to repent before you died)
I get a lot of crap from my husband because I cuss sometimes. He says it's a sin, I believe it's a man-made sin, and not a hell-worthy trespass. Like, I know it's not a Christian way to act, but I dont' think it's really a sin..

Ayway, I'm so confused and would like to know which of us is right.. ?
