You hear 'God Bless America' the most. Why do most people have the conceit and ignorance that they can tell God what to do?

God will bless what he/she/it feels like blessing. No one can and should never tell God what to bless. Who the hellll r u?! That phrase is absurd! To truly honor God... It should be 'Please God could you please bless the United States?' (America = north and south america so saying united states is correct since most people really mean the united states not the whole america) That's what I say cuz I have respect for God (the Christian one).

I agree, it bothers me too. I realize it's just a shortcut to "May God Bless America" or something like that, but I find it offensive as well. But religious people somehow think they have such a great relationship with their creator that they can tell him/her what to bless. God will bless whoever or whatever he/she wants and I can't believe he/she listens to us down here. God is not a democracy.

First of all, I think you may be more than a little weird, some may even call you small minded. When we say God Bless America, or even God Bless you after someone sneezes--it is not a demand for God. It is what it is, asking for God to bless. Sometimes people really get a little over the top with things. God knows what our intentions are, even if you do not.

I believe that the blessing was orignally worded as a mini-prayer..May,the Lord or God bless you...rather than an order barked out to God.

Further,if America would bless God...God would bless America.

i do no longer thnk this is impolite while it comprises somebody this is sneezing all day using hypersensitive reactions. I worked with a female that would desire to sneeze approximately 20-30 situations an afternoon. After working a week together with her, i began out saying "Bless you" or "God bless you" at you first sneeze then i might upload "and bless you all day long." Then i did no longer could say it the the remainder of the day. Then the different workers began doing that. She did no longer recommendations and it grew to alter right into a humorous shaggy dog tale interior the place of work. I remember at some point she basically sneeze as quickly as (in the direction of the tip of the day) and no one mentioned "bless you" and she or he loudly mentioned, "am i able to get a bless you?" all of us snort and blessed her. I by no ability assume people to assert it as quickly as I sneeze, no rely if or no longer they're strangers or acquaintances or kinfolk. while they do, I say thank you yet definitely i do no longer likely think of roughly it. yet I regularly say it to others. In all definitely, this is all in keeping with a superstition. many people do no longer have faith in those. So, do no longer take it for my area.

i personally think that it feels good for someone to say "God bless you". because then you know that person is thinking of you and wanting to make you feel good--they just want God's blessing to be upon you. i think it's just a friendly way of saying "Have a good day".

also on the God bless america part.... america needs all the blessing it can get, and i don't think God minds too much that we are "telling" him to bless our country because He knows how horrible it is getting!

anyways that's just my two cents.

"God bless" means that you are hoping that God will bless that individual, nation, or whatever it is you're saying it about. I would like to know how bored a person must be in order to look for offense in something so non-offensive.

Listen, saying God Bless for starters is not wrong, as long as its not missused or thrown around just for the sake of using it etc. Remember it is to ESTABLISH God's blessing upon people- how is that so burdemsom or wrong in any way?

Most Christians will ask their god to bless everyone, not just one particular country. It's their way of saying "I hope good things happen for you."

It's not rude. It's actually kind of nice of them.

Let it go. It's not worth getting upset over.

We should just get rid of the whole "God Bless America" and "One Nation Under God" thing altogether. It's ridiculous and unnecessary.
