On a different question I saw many people saying that someone who committed suicide cannot enter into heaven. For the people that believe this, can you provide specific biblical scriptures for your belief?

God is the Judge , My God is much bigger then any sin and
His forgiveness abounds . A True Christian would never
become Hopeless and take his/her own life to begin with .
Many people for different religions are truly blind , they
say they love God , they heed the alter call , the go to church
all the time , But they never really give their life to God .
There is much to be said here . If you want to know God you
must seek Him out Daily , read His word yourself and stop
depending on fallen mankind for your answers , you only
then become deceived by this . If you truly love God , you
will submit to Him and do his will not yours . Even Jesus
ask God at the garden if there was another way ( all the while he was sweating blood because he knew what was ahead for
him ) but He said , Father let not my will but , be it your will be
done . This was complete obedience until death at the Cross.
Not to mention that almost all people that were floged in that
time died then . Are you ready to become a servant of our
God . So to make what could be a really long story short here
and probably stir the emotions a bit . Alot of christian who say
that they are christian are by far not ! , They really are blind ,
and the Bible speaks alot on this . In the end God can save who ever He wants . We can only pray to God for living and
our salvation . The Bible pretty much remain silent on this but
here is scripture concerning it ,Gen.27:46, 1Sam.31:1-6 ,
2 Sam.1:1-16 & 17:23 , 1 Kings 16:18 , Isaiah 28:15-18 ,
Matt 27:3-5 , Luke 8:26-34 , Acts 16:25-28 , Jonah 1:12 ,
1 Sam31:4 , Psalm 55:9-10 , I hope that this helps , but the
true hope rest in Jesus...

There are no such Scriptures. Although suicide is an extremely selfish activity, there is no absolute that it is an unforgivable sin. Perhaps the most notable suicide recorded in the Bible is that of Judas who betrayed Christ. Even though he betrayed Jesus, became responsible for His Crucifixion and then killed himself, there is no record that Jesus removed him from his apostle position with the other 11, nor did he refuse forgiveness. A review of other Scriptures may even make the argument that Judas is indeed in Heaven today. The bottom line always is that the relationship of any one and the Lord is between those two and we can not judge.

That, I think, is a Roman Catholic tenet. It does stem from the statement that the body is God's temple, so if you harm the 'temple' you are committing a sin.

I found no specific injunction against suicide, but it isn't a good idea. It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Just wait things out. It will get better.

Suicide contradicts the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life. It is gravely contrary to the just love of self. It likewise offends love of neighbor because it unjustly breaks the ties of solidarity with family, nation, and other human societies to which we continue to have obligations. Suicide is contrary to love for the living God.

If suicide is committed with the intention of setting an example, especially to the young, it also takes on the gravity of scandal. Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to the moral law.

Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide.

We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives.

This is the Catholic belief

I couldn't find any, but here's a site with a discussion of various passages related to suicide:

The only person who can ever determine who gets into heaven is Jesus.

I do not think any of us could ever say with certainty that we know a person's heart the way God can. Therefore, He is the only judge.

We can only point the way to heaven which is through Christ. As for the actual entering-- Jesus will be the Ticketmaster :-)

I don't know the answer to that question but I am hoping that you are not thinking about taking your own life. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Please call a local church or maybe a doctor for some help. I hate to see someone take their own life. I hope you seek some help.

The devil has come to steal and destroy. If we choose to listen to his voice over God's, such actions do not surprise me. If they choose to listen to Jesus, He has promised to give them life, and that more abundantly. But today, we have many people, as witnessed here on YA! Who prefer that the young and impressionable, listen to any voice other than Jesus. As a result, they are fed lies that lead away from the light and into the darkness.

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Does not the cross take away the punishment for sin? All sin, or just some sin?

1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

However, dwelling in sin or allowing yourself to be vulnerable to mental torment, can lead you toward self-destruction. Will the cross cover this as well?

The enemy can convince us to self-destruct with voices of guilt and condemnation. If we accept these voices without coming to God for forgiveness--like cancer, it will spread until it consumes your life. But will it be an automatic expulsion from heaven? No.

If I adopted a troubled child, and I called him my son, and that boy listens to children who make him feel like he should kill himself--and he does. Would that make him any less my child? On who's head would I place blame for his demise--him, or the children that tormented him?
