I am an Atheist and I would like to ask any Christian to answer my questions and give me other proof of their religion.

1. Do you belive in evolution or creationism even though evolution has lots of proof and creationism does not?

2. Do you still belive that the world is 4000 years old while it has basically been proved that it is indeed some billions of years old?

3. Any other reasons why I am wrong and that you are right.

Try to keep the trolling/flaming to a minimum and have a good discussion. Give me respect and I will take you seriously.

You people have no structure, you do not know if the minister u listen to is telling what Jesus wants you to learn and that he is reall y being guided by the holy spirit like our pope. Jesus did not come and say he wanted a protestant church, the only church he established was the Catholic one, besides Peter his beloved disciple was called on Jesus to be the rock of the CATHOLIC church not the protestant.

I am reading the Bible for the first time and have noticed that most of the men in the first couple of books of the Bible either had multiple wives or had lovers on the side. How was that ok??

First he made Adama and Eve, so the story goes, but I know better than that, but then he threw them out of the garden, then Adama and Eves had 2 sons Cane and Able. So Cane killed his brother and god send him into the land of Nod, where he took a wife. The story gets ahead of itself there because there could be not other people at that time, but Adam and Eve and their 2 sons. God has been, so some people think, trying to teach people for over 6,000 years and some people think that he came back to try to teach again as Jesus and got hung on a cross by his own people; so told in the fictional Jesus story.
Hiow can it be that an entity that believers think is omni-everything be so stupid and never gets anything right.. He lies and kills and cheats, and upholds slavery.
Anyone want to respond, but do not try to use your bable to prove anything. It is a joke book at best.

Okay, I keep seeing posts where the Atheists bash the Christians, yet the Atheists claim the Christians are far worse at this. Personally, I think it's because we notice the posts that we feel are more offensive to us rather than those people on "our" side of an issue.

So, let's just take a survey. On Tuesday at 6pm EDT on 4/10/2007, do you feel that the bashing goes on way too much. If so, who do you feel is doing most of the bashing?

Short of having "police" watching every post, how do we get this to stop?

Can we ever get along???

Christianity claims that Isaiah chapter 53 refers to Jesus, as the "suffering servant."

In actuality, Isaiah 53 directly follows the theme of chapter 52, describing the exile and redemption of the Jewish people. The prophecies are written in the singular form because the Jews ("Israel") are regarded as one unit. The Torah is filled with examples of the Jewish nation referred to with a singular pronoun.

Ironically, Isaiah's prophecies of persecution refer in part to the 11th century when Jews were tortured and killed by Crusaders who acted in the name of Jesus.

From where did these mistranslations stem? St. Gregory, 4th century Bishop of Nanianzus, wrote: "A little jargon is all that is necessary to impose on the people. The less they comprehend, the more they admire."

I just received the latest issue of Pan Gai and there is an article in there about "Indo-Pagans"...people who are Pagan that are influenced by Hindu spirituality. I used to be a Celtic Pagan (because my ancestry is in UK) but worshipping the Celtic deities never really felt right to me...until one day I was just struck by Ganesha and I felt the right path had been placed in front of me.
NOW...my question.....what do you think of blending Paganism with Hinduism, which in my mind is the Grandmother/father of Paganism to begin with! I understand with other Pagan traditions there is no current recognized religion, but as Hinduism is alive and well and thriving, why would you want to lessen it by including only a portion of it into your already existing Pagan beliefs and making up a name for it? It would be like someone wanting to have a St Francis statue on their Pagan altar so they call themselves a Cath-Pagan...do you see what I mean? I'd really appreciate your thoughts on this!

Surely it's worth trying, if there really was a God there should be some evidence of his existence, shouldn't we be looking for it?

All his so called miracles would be a cinch for street magicians of today, with 12 able assistants. The early part of his life is kept secret. These could have been years he used practicing his craft. Who confirmed any of the things that is supposed to have happened. His twelve assistants who else. The only question is was he able to pull off the biggie, The Crucifixion. It could have been done, if he was as good as some of our great ones today. People could have been bribed. After all he did live in a time of great ignorance. Some people still lived in caves for Christ sake.

I was watching a documentary on the History channel and the oldest form of the ten commandments(it was way more than ten rules) forbids creating the image of God as well as using imperfect words to define the perfect being (God,GCB, Allah, Creator, Jehova, whatever).
I was wondering what your opinion on this issue is. Whether you will take it literal and not use Gods name in response to hell, or call it blasphemy and continue to use the word due to the current dogma? I know every (or most) religious person on this site has used the word God, can you be eligble for hell? Also, if you believe this is all nonsense, why do you believe your latest version of the commandments holds any more truth than the originals?

It seems to me that the stories in the bible should not be taken literally, especially as an entire lifestyle. Isn't it more important to believe the lessons that stories in the bible taught rather than the actual events (Which many we have proved to be false)?

Of course, stupid parts from the bible like calling homosexuality an "abomination" should definitely not be taken literally (Or in our modern government).

Even the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the most important element of the Christian religion, should not be acknowledged as an actual event. Christians focus deeply on how Christ died, when they should be paying more attention to how he lived. Although crazy for being the self-proclaimed "son of God", he was a good person.

Although much of the bible is quite ridiculous, it was written with good intentions to teach lessons. Jesus preached tolerance and accepting, but right wing Christians have no problems with gay-bashing.
