Okay, I keep seeing posts where the Atheists bash the Christians, yet the Atheists claim the Christians are far worse at this. Personally, I think it's because we notice the posts that we feel are more offensive to us rather than those people on "our" side of an issue.
So, let's just take a survey. On Tuesday at 6pm EDT on 4/10/2007, do you feel that the bashing goes on way too much. If so, who do you feel is doing most of the bashing?
Short of having "police" watching every post, how do we get this to stop?
Can we ever get along???

Yes, there is quite a lot of bashing.
I feel it's about equal, though I would have to say it's the atheists (not all of them of course) that are more disrespectful. Some Christians are rude, too, so I'm not overlooking them. I just see more disrespect from the atheists.
How do we stop it? We can't. The only thing that COULD work is ignoring the posts that are ignorant and disrespectful. But that's REALLY hard to do sometimes.

Christians bash atheists. Atheists bash Christians. There are more Christians than Atheists. Do the math...

Without doubt Atheists, the educated, the scientifically aware, the freethinkers, and logicians, do the majority of "challenging". This is as it should be, and aside from some deliberate goading, it pleases me greatly that superstition and myth do not go unchallenged. There is no need for anything to "stop", I live in a secular democracy, and compared to the real world, this site is tame !

I think the bashings are the exceptions. No matter what you do, there will be those (and you know who you are) who will bash one side or the other OR both sides just because they think it's fun. No amount of monitoring will stop it because they'll just create another account and go at it again.....the poor will always be with you and I guess the bashers too! Peace, Love, and Blessings.

The only way that everybody can get along is if everybody were to respect each other and their right to believe or not believe how they choose to do so. And all of the name calling would have to stop as well. if everybody could go about discussing things in a civilized and mature respectful way then things would be much better then what they are right now.

Yes there is a lot of bashing, apparently asking and answering questions isn't enough and the rating system has been incorporated into the bashing

As an atheist, I have to say Christians do more bashing. We can't stop it...everyone has free speech here within Yahoo's ridiculous terms and conditions. We will never get along because all of us are afraid to admit we could be wrong....

What do you think your survey is going to accomplish? If you have a problem with people bashing your religion, then you may need to examine yourself instead of focusing on them. Obviously there will always be people who hate us; Jesus said it would be that way. Just ignore them; what are they really doing to harm us? They're just annoying...they're not really hurting anyone. Focus on your own walk with God and don't let hurtful people distract you.

I haven't seen what I'd call bashing on either side...sometimes I see snide remarks and condescending ones...but nothing really bad...certainly nothing like what I used to see on a religious newsgroup.

It's not gonna stop... 'can't we all just get along?' is just cheese. The only way we will all 'get along' is if we can all learn to debate and disagree maturely, and learn to live and let live. But I don't see that happening anytime soon!
