1. As already pointed out, evolution is based, supposedly, on evidence. In the absence of an eye witness, what we are looking at is historic evidence and the testimony of logical/best case reasoning from subject matter experts and NOT proof. Interestingly, the same kinds of evidence can be provided by theistic arguments, but it is judged somehow as inadmissable. I submit we have a kangaroo court here.
2. The age of the earth is still debated among scientists of various stripes and is not "basically proven." Submit a link to a white paper if one exists.
Incidentally, if you allow for a big-bang, then you must allow for the possibility of cause beyond this physical, material universe. I would like to give some more detail, particularly the evidence of basic math, logic and science. Email me at thomas_e_lafferty@yahoo.com
Blessings!

I am an Atheist and I would like to ask any Christian to answer my questions and give me other proof of their religion.
Ours is the one with the longstanding position. The burden of proof is on you sir.
1. Do you belive in evolution or creationism even though evolution has lots of proof and creationism does not?
Creationalism.
1. It is only logical to assume that a universe of such intricate design had an intelligent designer.
2. Evolution goes against the laws of Biogenesis, Thermodynamics, and Entropy.
3. No 'proof' of evolution has ever been found. There are plenty of theories, but all of them rely on other theories (it's a house of cards).
4. Mathematically, the odds of a single cell evolving from base protiens has been calculated (by evolutionists) to be several trillion to 1. Creationalism is 50/50 - play the odds.
2. Do you still belive that the world is 4000 years old while it has basically been proved that it is indeed some billions of years old?
Again, that's never been proven. Second, creationalists date the world to be 10,000-15,000 years old. Where you got 4,000 I don't know.
3. Any other reasons why I am wrong and that you are right.
Nope, that pretty much sums it up. Evolution hasn't been proven in any way, and any so-called evidence is usually debunked within a few months.

1. I believe in both creationism and evolution. Where that first piece of life came from is unknown. Creation is a mysterious miracle, only heaven holds the answers to creation.
2. The galaxy has been proven to be billions of years old if not older. I'm not too sure where the 4000 years old thing comes from though. No where in the Bible does it say the world is only 4000 years old.
3. Right and wrong on this topic are just points of view, beliefs, if you will. I have my faith and believe in the after life. If in the end I am indeed wrong and there is no God, I will have gained nothing or lost nothing. I am 100 percent sure I will meet God face to face when I die.

True Christianity is faith based. Evolution is a theory that hasn't been conclusively proved. Only God knows the age of this world. He created it. His word says that in the beginning the earth was without form and void.... So He either created the earth first and waited a long while before He spoke light or after he created the universe He decided to use the earth to make life. Either way it goes I believe God created all things and nothing is made that He didn't make. Christian apologetics isn't about who's wrong or right. Its about providing biblical truths to support your reason for believing in God or the principles in the bible. For instance, scientist get together every year to share their findings as different conferences around the world. Some argue over the origin of something or the species of something but in the case of say a rock for instance, how can one scientist say that another is wrong or right if he himself has a different understanding or totally doesn't believe it regardless of any physical proof at all? They are simply at a standstill. At the heart of it all a rock is a rock and that fact can not be denied. At the heart of it all God is God, He is, was, and will forever be God and soon for many people when this life is over that fact won't be denied either weather they believe it now or not.

First of all, your first question sets up a contrast that makes answering it pointless.
#2- I have never believed the earth is a mere 6,000 years old(not 4,000 as you listed). I believe the earth is at least 12-15 billion years old. And for the really BIG shock of all- Genesis is NOT describing "creation"- it is describing RE-CREATION !!!!! The earth was ALREADY HERE!!!!!! IT SAYS SO RIGHT THERE ON THE PAGE!!!
There are plenty of reasons why you could be wrong and me right, but until the resolution is agreed upon, I usually don't bother. However, if you insist on a debate, it's your ego not mine.

First of all, I'm a Catholic. Just so you know where this is coming from:)
1. I believe in evolution. I don't believe in the exact, word for word creation story in the bible. I agree that there's little or no evidence that supports the word for word story, but I still believe that God created all of life indirectly by starting the process of evolution, which eventually led to us.
2. No, I agree that tyhe world is billions of years old. So do most christians.
3. I never said you were wrong:) You're right to believe in all the evidence of science. But even now, science has no idea what set the universe into motion. I believe that God created the universe, but that he did it indirectly by setting all the laws of physics, chemistry, and biology into motion.
I also never said that I was right. I have no idea how the universe really began, but that explanation makes sense to me.

Most everything has some evidence for and against it especially these topics and other topics of spirituality and religion. I believe in evolution to a degree and creationism to a degree.
The fact that a frog can go from tadpole to full-fledged frog in one life time is enough evidence for me personally to say that evolution takes place. I think it is necessary for creautes to change to adapt to their environment and evolution is a way to do that. I also believe that the original of each species (I assume it was fewer and yet more in the beginning as we did not have all of these crossbreeds and still we have lost many species) was created by a higher being at the beginning of time.
I don't believe the world is any age or that we could ever know how old it is. Carbon dating is not 100% accurate. I remember one time they carbon tested a miner's hat (flashlight and all) in a cave in New England and it came out to be thousands of years old. Obviously that wasn't the case. Carbon dating and common sense are great for guessing but no one was there, so no one will ever know for sure.
While I will admit that to my knowledge, evolution and the "billions year old world" theories have more evidence to their names, I will not relinquesh my "creationism+evolution" or "we will never know" theories. Part of life is having faith, even if it's not in religion. If you mother cooks you dinner you have to have faith that she loves you enough not to poison you, right? (Wow, that was morbid.) Sometimes that feeling deep inside you is something valid enough to go on, but you're right that you shouldn't always go on that feeling alone. Science has it's place but I'm not going to ignore my gut feelings.

I'm a Pagan but I'm going to answer anyway. I believe in evolution and creationism. I look at this world, the universe for that matter as a work of art. No artess starts at the end of a piece of art, they start a the beginning. So did whatever someone wants to call god. We seem to think we are the finished work. But we're not. It is a on going work.

1.i do believe in evolution, and that i evolve to be smart enough to know that i don't came from a monkey.
2.no,i don't believe the world is 4000 years old,and i also don't believe that it's billions of years old either.maybe god just put those so called evidence here on earth to confused people like you.
3.and no i have no reasons to say that you are wrong.one thing is sure.i wasn't alive to see that Jesus,Moises,or any other religious beings where real or not.and certainly not billions of years old to say that we really evolve from apes,or if they where dinosaurs on earth.and no scientist has proof of that cause they wasn't alive either.

What did you go through to come to the conclusion that evolution was correct? Did you dig up bones, compare fossils, extract DNA, etc.? How do you know the earth is billions of years old? Did you pursue advanced degrees at a university? Are you a geologist? Or are you just believing others?
If you believe them, why not believe me? If you indeed did do the years of study and research yourself to come to the conclusion that evolution is correct are you willing to put in the same effort to see what I say about God and life is correct?
Study my religion and live its principals for three months and I will bet you see things differently. It is easy to determine my religion if you think about it.
