Does being religious mean being spiritual? Are the two separate from one another? Are the two conjoined with one another? The reason why I ask this is because I ahve seen a disturbing trend on this forum for far too long where religious people call out non religious people and ask them why they are in this section. Respectful answers please.

Today in church there were several crying and whining children as well as a few around us who scooted up and down the row bumping into people who were there trying to pay attention to the sermon. When we left my husband complained that parents should either leave their children at home, stay home with them until they're old enough to sit quietly, or take them to the "cry room" out of consideration for others.

I argued that parents have the right to take their children to church, and indeed have a responsibility to teach them family beliefs, standards, and traditions, and if he is really a Christian he would be tolerant and patient and just focus on his own mind and means of worship.

He says I'm wrong and all parents are ******* who only consider themselves and the "universe of my child."

So, what do you think about all this?

Someone asked a similar question before: "If verses like John 4:24 say that God is spirit, then how can Jesus be God if he is physical too? I think that is a good question.

John 4:24 states in the King James version that “God is a spirit.” However, since there is no indefinite article (a, or an) in the Greek language from which this verse is translated, the consensus among biblical scholars is that there should not be an indefinite article at John 4:24. It should simply read “God is spirit.” In other words, this scripture does not limit God to being only a spirit, but merely includes spirit as one of his attributes.

After all, we also read that “God is light” (1 Jn. 1:5) and “God is love” (1 Jn. 4:8), and yet no one interprets these verses to mean that God is only light, or God is only love. Certainly, the member of the Godhead called the Holy Ghost is spirit, but that fact tells us nothing about whether or not God the Father has a physical body.

Can we ever learn to respect and appreciate one another's beliefs?

Can we ever learn to let go of our petty differences of dogma, and realize that we are all celebrating that which is Divine?

Did Jesus actually teach that there can be only one true religion or did He teach how people can worship God? His teachings seemed to be less religious and more spiritual. Take the Good Samaritan for example, he clearly stated that the true follower was someone who was merciful to everyone regardless of affiliation.

Did Jesus teach of a true religion or of a true path?

I remember an old R.E teacher told me one major church (catholic or protestant), I can't remember which, considered Judas Iscariot a saint, because he was sorry for his sins, and he had to betray jesus to fulfill the prophecies.

Is this true?
If so, which church?

Since I've moved to New York I've noticed a lot of Jewish men carrying small pillow type things. What are they? In my old town the amount of Jews was negligible so I've never seen these before.
