Although in one instance, I also ask the opinion of others if Judas Iscariot can possibly be a Saint? We have never seen his name in the Catholic List of Saints. Other religion does not consider sainthood as part of their practice. He is not a saint. Is he in heaven? That we cannot answer either. Only God knows the true account. He betrayed Jesus to make the sacrifice possible, thus he just performed what is written in the prophesy. He take his own life so it is suicide which is again a mortal sin and if he died due to that and was not pardoned for doing so, he may not be in heaven. However, in the second thought we are not around and we don't know wether he repent for this or not. Finally, only God knows.

I can't see that ever happening, based on what I know about the canonization process, which is quite complicated. On the other hand, there were times and places (Europe, various parts, Middle Ages) when Pontius Pilate was venerated (only locally, on a small level, and NOT with the RCC's official blessing) as a saint. He was never officially canonized, of course, but he certainly got closer than Judas Iscariot ever did, or ever will. The play/movie "Jesus Christ Superstar," btw, does an excellent job of telling the familiar story from Judas's point of view. Recommended viewing for all, religious or not.

RE:
Is Judas Iscariot a saint?
I remember an old R.E teacher told me one major church (catholic or protestant), I can't remember which, considered Judas Iscariot a saint, because he was sorry for his sins, and he had to betray jesus to fulfill the prophecies.
Is this true?
If so, which church?

Not that I have ever heard - though there very well may be a St. Judas.
Maybe your RE teacher thought that Judas should be a considered a saint in his/her own point of view.
In certain countries, such as Germany, it is illegal to even name your pet Judas - let alone your child.

Jesus had said that it would have been better if Judas Iscariot had not been born.
No. He isn't a Saint. Saints are those who are born of God, born of His Spirit, cleansed by His blood, joint heirs with King Jesus, part of the family of God.
Judas hung himself because he knew his condemnation. He died in his condemnation. He went to hell.

Judas Iscariot is not a saint. He betrayed Jesus Christ and he cannot be forgiven. That is why he committed suicide. He knew there was no hope for him.

In John's gospel it says Jesus knew he wasn't a genuine believer from the start. Also he was pinching money from the common purse, so his heart wasn't for Jesus' mission, even though he was with him. I think he could have repented and been restored, although Jesus knew he was going to not repent; and called him son of perdition, presumably his mindset prevented repentance, although it says he regretted his betrayal of Jesus. He may have been a militarist type who wanted Jesus to fight to remove the Romans.

sorry, can't help you there...as far as i know, the strange ritual of people sitting around in funny robes and hats deciding whether they should presume to declare some person a saint is found only in the catholic church...i know of no protestant denomination that goes in for that particular bit of silliness
