I think the answer has more to do with the fact that a lot of christians try to force feed religion to ppl they do and dont know and not many ppl appreciate that, so when someone has an opportunity to attack christians they happily jump at it. I'm not sure if it is so important to find out if there is a god, but ppl have turned it into a shouting match, trying to see who can scream the loudest, the believers or the non-believers.

Santa Claus cannot be proved non-existent, by the same logic.
As an atheist, I do not believe there is no god. But I will not be converted to a religion without evidence to confirm the existence of a personal god, much less their own belief system
Religion has psychological roots. There are over 2,000 religions in the world today, all focusing on our species as the center of this universe. But science shows us a universe made up of billions of stars and galaxies, and it may be one of many universes.
I see it as very unlikely that any "creator" would be concerned with one puny species on the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy, one of billions of galaxies in our universe.
Plus the theists have supported faith to justify their lack of evidence for the existence of a deity. Even more so, they jump to the conclusion that THEIR deity and doctrine is the correct one. It doesn't make sense.
And many religions suppress scientific exploration, instead of embracing it which would be logical if a deity actually existed. But they seem to be more interested in hanging onto their delusions than in understanding reality, such as the case of intelligent design.
This is why I profess no faith in a deity. I do not say there is no god, but I think it is arrogant to believe that a personal male god exists, is interested in our species, and punishes non-believers with his cruel human frailties.
And I have seen how religion has killed others over the centuries. My own mother believes that the earth is 6,000 years old and that other Christian denominations are going to hell because they don't interpret the bible as inerrant. She also threatens me with hellfire because I hold a different philosophical view on god.
I think that religion is the greatest waste of money ever created by mankind. Only science has been proven to reflect reality, and it's too big for humanity's god/world-centered fallacy.

How can you prove the existence or non-existence of
'something' that doesn't exist in the first place?
Lets just say for a minute that God did exist - there would be an enormous amount of empirical evidence to prove just that. However, in reality what we find is - no empirical evidence to prove the existence of God. That is why, Atheists like me, don't believe in God.

No, there is no definitive proof that he does not exists. But there are many logical arguments which individually disprove most of the teachings of religions, and when added together, coupled with a total lack of evidence in favor of God's existence, make a strong case. Strong enough for me to believe, and strong enough to prove that the existence of God is, if not impossible, very very improbable.

Bunch of B.S. God exists and people are just stuck up on ignorance! I would say I was an atheist when didn't want to make Christians look bad, there are lots of people who called themselves Christians, and are so evil. But the truth is there is a real God, and he does exist. It's up to people if they want to believe...There are facts and Jesus did exist on earth! If I didn't have a personal relationship with God, I would not sit here and say he is real...He lives in me, and I love him. I have been abused so much, but knowing him has kept me safe from harm, and I am living proof of what God has done for me, and it's all spiritual...I thank God, because in the beginning the creator of all is a good GOD! That's enough to see why there are so many good people still on earth, because of the love of CHRIST in them...Without God, we wouldn't have that love in us. To call yourself a Christian is to know you are a sinner, and with problems, but looking for help and answers to become more Christ like. This world is to crazy to be able to live perfect in it, but it doesn't hurt to try to be a good person...Bottom line people are in denial that they need help, and are comfortable living miserable, all because Satan is behind it all...

One or more Gods may or may not exist. There are those that assert that He/She/They do exist. There are those that assert that He/She/They do not exist. It is not possible to prove either assertion and most arguments on either side are equally silly.
Why do people believe one way or the other?, I have no idea.
Why is an answer important?. It isn't, but it would be interesting to know who is right and if one or more Gods do exist, which religion got it right.

I don't mock anyone for their personal belifes. I however get insulted daily cause I don't chose to belief the same thing as you or others. Why is it so important that there is a answer to if god exist or not? Well cause daily I get Christians trying to convert me. They can't prove to me that god exist and nothing else proves it neither. If they wish to convert me its going to take a lot more then just their word or their bible which was written by mankind.
If you believe god is real and is the one true religion. Then it lays upon you to prove he does exist. Other wise your intilted to your "faith" and you can believe what ever you want. Likewise I can do the same. I don't try to convert people and I don't wish to have anyones religion pushed upon me neither.

I don't think we're going to find any evidence one way or the other. It's always going to be:
"The universe was created with the Big Bang!"
"Then who created the Big Bang?"
"Then who created God?"
it's something we'll never be able to answer, because our logical perceptions are based on causality, and God's existence by definition was never caused.
Let's drop this unproductive debate and switch our minds to how to feed everybody on earth and increase everyone's happiness.

enable's say we in simple terms coined the be conscious "aunicornists" as you seem to have finished. enable's say we upload that be conscious to the dictionary. Does that make the life of unicorns a threat or more advantageous probable? Come on, semantics haven't any touching on actuality. they have a be conscious for phrenology too, that would not make it any a lot less loopy. What do you call someone who does no longer trust in god and would not even renowned the threat that gods exist? seeing that - on your view - there is not any be conscious for such someone does that make it no longer a threat for such someone to exist? you're absolutely Orwellian on your use of semantics. you're making "concept crime" no longer a threat via creating it no longer a threat to precise.

well there is no proof of god, so i would count that as proof he does not exist. i always wonder how people can devote their lives to something they can't see or hear or even know is there. in all other areas of life, belief in something without any evidence to support your claim, or in spite of a lot of evidence contrary to your claim, is evidence of serious mental issues. we do not take people seriously when they claim elvis is still alive or that they were abducted by aliens, and it is time to move religious people into that same category
