What do you think?

Yesterday, on Y!A M&F…
“Do you believe that Unicorns once lived?”
Best Answer: “Even my science teacher believes that… I think they did but I wonder why they all died.”

Is this roughly the same as, or different from, a belief in a God?
Why (in either case)?
Does the Best Answer show good science or not?

The bible itself has "prophecies," so in itself, is the bible not a sin?
I find it odd that you religious people can believe in such contradictions.

I love the pentecostal church but many say that we wear long skirts, long hair, and cant be around men. To my knowledge I have never had heard of this and for that matter our church does not tell us what to wear. Well my question is, is there a difference between pentecostal and new pentecostal?

Do you think that, in this time of war and pestilence (like it always is), and global warming, God is currently giving someone the power to save the world? Not like sending down Jesus, but giving someone the power to stop global warming so humans cant erradicate themselves? The times arent like they used to be. God never had to worry about us completely destroying ourselves, even after we made nukes. But with global warming and all, maybe he has blessed a baby, a child or a teen that is alive today with a gift, say, knowledge of the most efficient power source that we could create with our technology, like perpetual evergy, for example, to stop global warming? I know il probably get a lot of athiest answers like 'there is no god to give such a gift," or a lot of christian answers like "ONLY JEEEEESUS CAN SAVE US!!!," but, i can deal.

Today is a Holy Day of God, are you enjoying the gifts He has given you today?
Got any special plans with your family or friends, are you thinking bout going fishing. How about taking a walk out in God’s country, a picnic perhaps? Maybe you have your own special way of worship? Anyone care to share some of those “special” things you like or perhaps would like to do today?

The way I see it, there is no point to anything. Suppose you are good at something. You harness that skill and use it to make money. You live happily with that money. You grow old; you die. What have you accomplished? Maybe you were famous; maybe you gave yourself a good name. But what does what do? It is of no use to you once you are dead. And even when youre alive it doesnt do much good. It helps make life fun, or even easier. Well then, what good does that do? Whether life is easy or hard; good or bad; short or long; it serves no purpose. Im talking about life, not the afterlife (if there is even such a thing).

Youre born. You go to grade school to prepare for high school. You go to high school to prepare for college. You go to college to prepare for work.
You get a job; something you do endlessly for 30+ years and then you retire, you grow older, and you die. What has come of your life? Nothing.

Some people live for honor. Some live for freedom. Some die for these same reasons, among others. But it does nothing. There is no point to any of it.

Pain and suffering makes lives miserable. Oh well. That doesnt matter either. Soon theyll be dead and wont feel a thing. If you live a pain free life, its going to end the same way as a painful life.

Those people that live and die for principles live and die for nothing (religion).
It may mean something to them, but in the end, it does nothing for you. Those people were told when they were young and impressionable, that they need to live honestly, and respectfully, and believe in god, and dont sin because you want to get to heaven. You dont want to go hell.

How can we go to heaven or hell? Once we die, we decompose. We dont have souls or spirits that go to places. Where would those places be? Would they be reincarnated like L. Ron Hubbard of scientology states? Heaven and hell are what we make them. And even when we do, its pointless to do so. Because they do not exist. Unless hell is where you go when youre reincarnated into another hellish time where earth is at its worst. And then everyone calls God the Devil!

People go by what the bible says and by what is right by the word of god. What if the bible said Jesus came to Earth on a UFO? Everyone would believe it because it would be what the bible says. As illogical of an idea it is, its true. People would believe it, no matter what it said. As irrational as it seems now, we would believe it if that was what the bible originally said. Divine omniscience and human freedom.

There is no god. There is no devil. It is necessary to create them to keep order and sanity in our society. But what purpose does that order and sanity (if there is such a thing) serve? Suppose the world was order less and insane. It would end for each person the exact same way as it would if there was order and there was sanity. It would end in death. Either way, it ends the same without a point. With no purpose served.

On the note of sanity Suppose a man, well call him Fred, starts talking to someone that doesnt really exist. No one else can see him. Fred has no proof that the other person exists. So, we, as a society, classify him as crazy. Yet, people designate days to gather in masses to talk to a person for whom there is no proof of existence. The bible says god is real. But, again, thats what the bible says. If the bible said that god was a two headed, three legged, hermaphrodite, everyone would believe that. Only because the bible says it is so. Just because the bible says something is so, doesnt make it so.

Suppose there are a god, and a devil, and a heaven and a hell. What purpose would it serve to go to heaven: Why would it be bad to go to hell? Heaven serves no purpose, and it wouldnt be bad to go to hell. People would respond, You can enjoy everything that heaven has to offer, and experience all of the suffering that hell has to offer. For what? And, if there was a god, and there was a devil, they would probably be working together anyway. God send those who are sinful to hell. Just because god sends those people to hell, the devil is supposed to accept them? If god and the devil are such opposites, then the devil would reject gods rejects only because god doesnt want them either. The devil just wants to cause harm, pain, and suffering. And whats the point. What would he get out of it? Entertainment? Enjoyment? He supposedly doesnt experience those things. So, it would have to be a bad feeling. Hatred. Anger. Despair. Or wait, the devil is uncapable of feeling.

People say that because of the life I lead (pointless as it will seem in the end even though I may be rich and be the happiest scientist since Einsteins days), Im going to hell. I cant very well go to a place I dont believe in, can I? And, whats the point in believing any thing? None. Thats my point.Im making a point about how there is no point. Irony.

Principles and emotions were developed to make life easier to understand. What if the people who wrote the bible only did so because they understand things as I do? They wrote it and made up the stories to get people to keep on living? They understood. They found out that there is no point. So, they invented one to make people happy. But, it is pointless to be happy. All it does is disguise the reality, disguise the truth; that there is no point. People say they do things for religion or principles, because they are afraid, and cannot handle the truth. But whats the point in understanding the truth? Once again, for the principle of conquering their fear- that there actually is no point to life. But they arent conquering their fears; theyre rationalizing, trying to hide the truth. Trying to make it seem that they are doing the right thing, because, in their minds, they need to do the right thing. They must. That is what they have been brought up to believe- they should do the right thing. Suppose someone does the right thing. It doesnt accomplish anything. Suppose that person had done the wrong thing. Will their life end any differently? The style in which it ends may be different, but either way, it ends. They die. Nothing has been achieved.

People grow, and learn, and live on their own. But they do it for a reason. A reason that, in the end, has no point. It may have a point for that person, or other people, but, in the big picture, there is no point. Just like life. There is no point to life, and, thus, no importance. But I still love it!

Does that mean they think God created the scientific method as an autonomous entity that would someday implant itself into our minds or something like that, or that God created humans who employ the methods of science and so therefore indirectly created science?

I just don't get it. Someone explain.

If all non religious and non Christians left you alone would you be willing to leave them alone. I asked a similar question to all non Christians and non religious people and most said that they were willing to leave you guys alone if you left them alone. The question therefore is this would you be willing to reciprocate or better yet return the favor? The link to the question I asked all non Christians and non religious people is right there.

For several years, there has been a growing trend towards ecumenism. During the tribulation hour, a global religious system will be established, and all the world's major religions will be united under the rule of the Antichrist. Right now, the devil is working hard to build a foundation to facilitate that eventual unity.
Christianity by its nature is not compatible with any other religion. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6). The Lord didn't say, “I am one way among many.”

I maintain that Islam is itself incompatible with Christianity. Western liberal scholars do their best to promote the idea that Islam means peace and love, but they can't hide the vengeful and perverted teachings easily found in Islamic writings. The following is a list of quotes from the Koran and other Islamic holy books that clearly speak for themselves.

"They say, 'Accept the Jewish or the Christian faith and you shall be rightly guided.' Say, 'By no means! We believe in the faith of Abraham, the upright one. He was no idolater.'" (Surah 2:135)

"The only true faith in God's sight is Islam." (Surah 3:19)

"Say, 'Obey Allah and the apostle.' If they give no heed, then truly, Allah does not love the unbelievers." (Surah 3:29)

"If you fear that you cannot treat orphans with fairness, then you may marry other women that seem good to you: two, three or four of them." (Surah 4:1)

"Try as you may, you cannot treat all your wives impartially." (Surah 4:3)

"Men take authority over women... As for those who are disobedient, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them." (Surah 4:34)

"Believers, do not approach your prayers when you are drunk, but wait till you can grasp the meaning of your words..." (Surah 4:43)

"Will they not ponder on the Koran? if it had not come from God, they could have surely found in it many contradictions." (Surah 4:82)

"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:104)

"They denied the truth and uttered a monstrous falsehood against Mary. they declared: 'We have put to death the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, the apostle of God.' they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but they thought they did...they did not slay him for certain. God lifted him up to him..." (Surah 4:157-158)

"The Jews and Christians say: 'We are the children of God and His loved ones.' Say: 'Why then does He punish you for your sins?" (Surah 5:18)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Unbelievers are those who say: 'God is one of three.' There is but one God. If they do not desist from so saying, those of them that disbelieve shall be sternly punished." (Surah 5:73)

"The God will say: 'Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind 'Worship me and my mother as gods besides God?' 'Glory to You, 'he will answer, 'how could I ever say that to which I have no right?" (Surah 5:116)

"If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may fairly retaliate by breaking off your treaty with them." (Surah 9:12)

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:29)

"The Christians say: The Christ is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them." (Sura 9:30)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"And say: All praise is due to Allah, WHO HAS NOT TAKEN A SON and WHO HAS NOT A PARTNER in the kingdom."(Sura 17.111)

"'How shall I bear a child,' she [Mary] answered, 'when I am a virgin...?' 'Such is the will of the Lord,' he replied. 'That is no difficult thing for Him...God forbid that He [God[ Himself should beget a son!...Those who say: 'The Lord of Mercy has begotten a son,' preach a monstrous falsehood..." (Surah 19:20-21, 29, 88-89)

"NEVER DID ALLAH TAKE TO HIMSELF A SON, and never was there with him any (other) god . . ." (Sura 23:91)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

"The Day of Resurrection will not arrive until the Moslems make war against the Jews and kill them, and until a Jew hiding behind a rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: 'Oh Moslem, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him!'" (Sahih Bukhari 004.52.176)

Someone suggest to you that by wearing a red tee-shirt on tuesdays, you might be punished. You look for a way to verify this rumor. You find no truth or proof that it is in fact illegal to wear your red shirt on tuesday.

So you wear your red shirt. Every tuesday for the rest of your life. Everything is great. People still tell you every so often that its illegal, but you've never actually seen one person get arrested or any real proof its illegal.

Then one day, your old and gray, and a man comes up to you and says "You wore a red shirt on tuesday, you must be punished"

He takes you to jail and tortures you until you die.

Who's fault is it that you got tortured? The jerk who tortured you? Or your own fault for not believing the unprovable rumors?
