Do you feel that separation of church and state are taking away your religious freedoms, and if so how, and which ones.

Matthew 6

28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

I'm just fascinated with their rhetoric and loyal following despite all the bizzarities of their doctrines... not judging, just admiring. Then again, I have heard many comparisons between these two religions and "a well-run business". What do you think?

The problem is that she dislikes the fact that I do not believe in fundamentalist Christianity, the war in Iraq, and that I am more open to diversity. She has mocked me, ignored me during a social gathering, used me for things, and claims that she is a Christian. We use to be close, but she mistreats me, does not value my belief system or accept my philosophy on life.

Should I just end this friendship and move on or continue walking on egg shells?

1 Peter 5:

6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.

7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters[b] all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.

10 In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

11 All power to him forever! Amen.

I did once. When I was traveling with my family we stopped for lunch and there was a humongous crach on the highway. It took atleast an hour to get the road moving agian. If we hadn't stopped I might've been in that crash. I thank God for protecting me. Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

What do most people mean by free thinking (besides what can be implied by the words)? Why do people say that Christian belief discourages it? Is it just that some strict sects of it try to keep people from real thought?

I mean learning isn't contrary to thinking. If we learn more, one can argue that it makes our thoughts make more sense and our logic lead to more correct conclusions. Why can't learning about God be good for the thought process?

I ask because for me, being a Christian has encouraged me to think more deeply about things, explore more, ask more questions out of life....

Phil 1
29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.

1 John 3:13
Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.

1 Peter 4:12
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.

1 Peter 4
7 The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. 8 Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

An infant does not have the intellecutal capability to be an athiest nor a theist. These type of categories are not yet exsistent in their developing minds.

I imagine you have no real evidence or rationale behind such a statement. And if you do have such rationale then I imagine the converse could be applied as well to say that we are all born thiest.
