The Catholic Church is the oldest surviving form of Christianity, it is heading in the direction the Lord wants His Bride to go. There is nothing wrong with the Church, it has survived much worse times and these times are the ripest.
It is the most ecumenical of the Churches, the largest, and also the most humble of the churches, permitting the laity an active role in the Church, no other church does this.
We keep the Church going by two things prayer and actively being a part of the Church.
God bless you always.

I think the Catholic Church is similar to other churches in that it is trying to balance respect for old traditions while staying relevant in the modern world.
I fear the church has really backed itself into a corner by not allowing married men or any women to be ordained. There is a great shortage of priests today and it looks like it will get worse before it gets better. Over the years many activities which used to performed by priests, monks and nuns such as teaching school, coaching athletic teams, leading choir practice, teaching RCIA etc. are now handled by the laity. What is next? Is the day coming when there are so few priests that they will only have time to say mass and hear confession all day every day?
FWIW I have a friend who seriously considered becoming a priest when he was younger, he is married now. He would seriously consider the priesthood again if the rules change to allow married priests. He feels the church will have to do something soon. As there used to be married priests, this is a more likely solution than women priests.

Using a triangle form Catholicism is established from the highest down. Protestantism is from the backside up. Christianity has regularly supposed to be interpreted. All denominations stick with the primary tenants of Christian orthodoxy. Each denomination has its possess ideals or practices, however they're regularly viewed branches of the equal faith considering the fact that they agree on such basics because the Bible, the Trinity, and the lessons of the Nicene Creed. The luck of the faith is that there's a denomination and a variety of worship for every body. Church management Orthodox: Patriarchs (esp. Constantinople & Moscow) Catholic: Pope, Cardinals, Bishops Anglican: Archbishop of Canterbury; Bishops Protestantism (varies largely by way of denomination) Bishops, Presidents

Somewhere around the 14th Century I'm afraid. Ben seems to be circling the wagons and trying to push out any trace of Vatican II. It's not all his fault, that college of cardinals got pretty packed with John Paul's right-wing cronies. But the "changes" I've seen do little to address the real problems and much to enforce a very narrow definition of orthodoxy. I do so miss John XXIII. The Holy Spirit will have to be a locksmith to get through those windows now.

The Roman Catholic church is falling away from true Christianity little by little. This is sad because when the Roman Catholic church was founded back in the fourth century, little by little from that point on the Roman Catholic church has been adopting teachings of mere men into her theology and setting them up as doctrine of the Roman Catholic church.
If the Roman Catholic church is to ever come back to Orthodox Christianity, she needs to place God back first in all things and renounce her doctrines that were set up by mere men.
I pray that this may happen, but I don't think it will ever be likely.

The Catholic Church is headed down the wrong path with allowing pedophiles to still pratice, not allowing women to become preists, not allowing clergy to get married, sticking to archaic rituals, refusal to ellect a minority Pope, and the list goes on.
I left Catholicism because it is so out of tune with today's society and world. Also, the opulence and money that the church is surrounding with while people in the world are still living in poverty.
Organize religion does more harm than good in today's world!

I think that the Roman Catholic (if that's what you mean) Church will be just fine. She is going through some tough times now - but they are necessary. God sometimes must prune the vines in the vineyard in order for growth to take place.
Right now - He is doing some long-overdue pruning of some dead and harmful branches. But the vine is healthy, as Jesus Christ is the vine - we are the branches.

Unless God actually intervenes by showing all religion to be frauds, the blind will continue to believe in those man-made cults. The fleecing of the sheep shall endure.

Pray for them daily, hourly... that ship is sinking and believers must pray for guidance to get their loved ones out of there. I'm sorry this is not pleasant to hear, but it is True.
