It is a law of shechitah, the slaughtering of animals, that in the two months following Chanukah, (according to the Simlah Chadashah, siting Gemmorah Chulin) a shokhet (jewish slaughterer) must eat a piece of any goose he slaughters in that time, because it is a tradition fom Moses at Mt. Sinai, that witches use Geese to duel, and that because of this, in the two months following Hannukah there is one hour when a person who slaughters a goose and doesn't eat of it will die. Since we don't know when that hour is, every shokhet who slaughters a goose in that time must eat of it. Ashkenazi custom is from the foot.
Jews, do you believe this?
As it is listed as a tradition from Moses at Mt. SInai, are you aware that the Rambam, siting Gemmorah Rosh HaShanah, says if you don't believe even one tradition from Moses at Mt. Sinai you have lost your portion in the World to Come?
Does this scare you, particularly Orthodox Jews?
