Have you ever contemplated hell as it is traditionally believed to be by some Christians, a place of eternal torment. I am talking torment that makes any Nazi concentration camp look like a tea party and for ALL ETERNITY. If you have, does it make you question:

What exactly does that accomplish? What is the purpose of such a place? Why does God need to create a place like that or allow such a place to exist?

I mean take the worst person you can imagine, Hitler or Jeffery Dahmer. After a few millenia in hell, living out the suffering of every single one of their victims, shouldn't SOME form of resolution, repentance or purging of the soul happen by then?

Why is everlasting torment required? What purpose does it serve to restore universal balance? Why must a soul be kept alive just for the sole purpose of eternal suffering and NEVER have the capacity to learn and grow? Seems like such a waste of energy and human potential. Your thoughts?

I agree with you and I believe there is no eternal punishment. I believe the "punishment" for actions is reincarnating back onto the physical plane into circumstances from which you can learn your lesson for those poor choices and actions made in previous lifetimes.

(This question has been asked before and most Christians cling to "it's your decision to accept Jesus and avoid hell. God doesn't want to send you there, you send yourself there by not accepting Jesus.")

God didn't create Hell. He left Satan to his own devices.

I don't know what the PURPOSE of Hell is if there's no point in learning your lesson, but I would think that'd be all the more incentive to stop denying God NOW so long as we're here on Earth! :P

I suppose you can justify this by looking at heaven and the idea of opposites- If there is a place where you experience constant eternal bliss and joy then logically it wouldn't exist without a counterpart, a place where you suffer for all eternity.

Without pain & sadness, happiness cannot exist.

Hell was created by God for Satan and the other fallen angels...(when Lucifer fell from Heaven, he took a third of the angels with him). It was never intended for humans, but because of the evil of mankind, "...hell hath enlarged itself..."

I agree. Why would God send someone to this place of eternal torture because they are Hindu? Did Gandhi go there? No!!!!!! That is absurd!

Again, logic will not work on these people.
