The Bible says in Hebrews 11:1 (Chapter 11, verse 1):
"Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
My advice to you is to first come to terms with the Creator. Believe that you are a creation of God. That everything that has happened was not an accident, that there is someone who is there, who has always been there and will forever be there. Then decide if you are going to trust Him. Can you trust Him with your life, with your burdens, your cares, you joys, your hopes, your plans, and your future. Will you seek to know personally who He is and what He's about?
Then tallk with Him (pray).
I would also like you to consider these words:
Hebrews 12:1,2 (Chapter 12, verse 1 and 2)
"...let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH..."

Maybe a good first step would be to recognize that faith is a bad idea. Faith is accepting a belief without evidence to support it. The only reason you may think that is a good thing is that nobody ever allowed you to question it.
If you don't know how you have been brainwashed, read Max Stirner's "The Ego and Its Own." Powerful stuff from around 1845 and still packs a punch.

If you simply ask God to reveal himself to you, it will be done. Please don't absorb the words of non believers that tell you to do whatever you want and what feels right. At the end of the day, can you really see them praying for you and your destiny? Confusion is not from God, so please read scripture and God will guide you in the correct direction.

Find the religion that works for you. There is no wrong way to believe in God(s). Search around until you feel comfortable.
