I've seen some real arrogent and judgmental ones, like: watch out, you'll have to answer to my God someday. That p!ssed me off, for ten minutes at least. Am I being hyper sensitive, or is that a really offensive bumper sticker?

When you consider that some beliefs are used to subdue the rights of human beings around the world, and you add that thought to the bumper sticker you just saw... it's easy to get angry. I do it too... but then I catch myself, breathe, and remember the Dharma, that all things arise due to causes and conditions and I can either have a hissy fit about it or just stop the madness where I'm actually able to. Don't feel bad.

I can understand somewhat how you feel: One day I was in the checkout line at the supermarket and made a minor error (I can't even remember now what it was), and I made a feeble joke about it, saying it was the first mistake I'd ever made; the cashier said, then, irritating me considerably, something to the effect that only Jesus Christ is perfect! To me it seems that the more pious that Christians are, the more they lack a sense of humor. As for the license plates, they might be annoying, but do not really incite my anger; still, I haven't seen the one you mentioned. You might as well ignore the sentiments than let them arouse your ire and raise your blood pressure; they are designed, after all, to cause a reaction in nonbelievers. Do not give them the satisfaction, however unknowingly!

You're being oversensitive; try not to take them so seriously. Barring some apocalyptic overturn of the present social order, Fundamentalist Christians are never going to gain the power to enact their dogmas into law. Even in the Bible Belt the hardcore fundies probably peak out at about 30% of the population. Even there, they are not succeeding in transforming society.

The idea that Christians run the present administration is a left-wing myth. Aside from Dubya there is good season to suspect that all the alleged Christians in the White House (even Rove) are just lying about it to shore up their base. As for the Fool Prince, the fact that he seems semi-serious about Christianity is just another of the contradictory elements that go to make Dubya the strange guy that he is. If he was a lot smarter, people would probably call him "complex and conflicted"; as it is, he just seems pathetic and messed-up to me.

Hating Christians is a waste of time and energy.

As is hating Bush, I might add...

That particular one strikes me as more smug and self-righteous than annoying. It doesn't anger me because it's just one point of view among thousands. Chalk it up to freedom of expression and drive on.

Last bumper sticker I saw read, "Will Rogers never met Osama bin Laden."

They irritate me too, not because of someone expressing themselves but because I associate them with judgemental jerks who want to impose their beliefs on everyone else. If not for that behavior that I've seen the stickers wouldn't bother me.

It's not really offensive, but it's designed to annoy. There's nothing wrong with getting annoyed at something intentionally annoying.

Why should a 'fairy tale' bother you so much?
