6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. 9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

I constantly hear many christians say that Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) is a false prophet because he commanded his followers to go to war to an extent.

Yet, how many of you christians would have obeyed Moses, a prophet of God, if you were in this situation:?

Then he said to them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.' " 28 The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. 29 Then Moses said, "You have been set apart to the LORD today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day."[ Exodus 32:27-29 ]

The answer is: the majority of christians would have never obeyed him, and probably would have called him a liar or a 'false prophet' like they do about Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him).

My brother and sister-in-law hold two different beliefs: my brother is aethist and my sister-in-law is christian. They get along well, but problems arose when they had their first child; my sister-in-law wants her son to be christian and my brother doesn't want to force him one way or the other.

I personally think that people of two different belief systems will not succeed in a marriage...not because of each other, but in situations like above. I am not a religious person and I know that if I had a religious spouse this would be an issue. I don't want to keep my child from religion, but I want to teach them about many religions and let them decide for themselves which religion they want, if they want any at all. I think a religious spouse would feel differently.

What do you guys think? Would this be an issue? How do you resolve such a conflict? Who gets to decide which religion (or non-religion) is the way their child should go?

I posted this question this morning, but I wanted to get more opinions on it.

Christians are the dominant religion in America. A vast majority of this country's politicians are Christians. Weather it is constitutional or not, Christian faith has been and is continuing to try to force its dogma on the whole country through our laws. The Christian creation story is the only one people are trying to force into schools. Homosexuals cannot marry because Christianity says it is wrong. In many states, Atheists and Agnostics cannot run for public office. We have "in God we trust," on our money.

Yet what do I see on this board every day?

"Christians, why are we so persecuted!!????"
"Why do the Atheists want to oppress us??!!!"

I say to you now, Christians, that having people question your religion or even call you names is not "oppressing" you. What some people are doing to this country in the name of your religion is oppression.

Thoughts?

Why do so much people have so much negative things to say about us? All believers aren't the same. I mean sure some are hypocritical and bias but what goes for one doesn't go for all. It's just sad to see what some people make us out to be. They act like we're the Cruela Devilles (or however you spell it) of the world.

I understand that Christians say they are monotheists but they worship three gods as one. I have heard Christians say Hindus are pagan polytheists even though the Hindus I know say that the ultimate God is One and all the gods they have are all aspects of the one. This sounds about the same as the Christians except they only have three that make the One.

I just came across something of interest. I'm using Quicken Will Maker for creating a new Will. I did the last one 20 years and two wives ago.

I note in answering the questions about life prolonging procedures, that it includes whether blood or blood products are to be used? Being that JWs make up an overall small part of the population, one has to wonder why this has become a standard question? But, when you Google Bloodless Surgery, you find that over 150 hospitals now offer bloodless options to all patients and that only 10% of those refusing blood are JW. What does that equal in actual numbers?

Reading many of the answers on here, apparently a week doesn't go by that a Witness doesn't die from refusing a blood transfusion. Since they only make up 10%, does that mean 9 others are dying, also?

I am a Christian, but I am the only Christian in my family. I respect other religions. I believe Christianity is simply one of the "ways of salvation". All roads lead to Rome. What do you think? Jesus agrees with me. He said:"I am the way, truth, and life..." or "I am the only way, truth, and life..." ??? More importantly, God is love. Jesus is God. So, Jesus is love. Love is the way, truth, and life. Except Christianity, the world's four major religions are all based on the concept of love. So you see, all roads lead to Rome. Why Christian churches have been monopolizing the Creator for 2000 years? When will they wake up to the new world reality ?? btw, I am a new Christian. Perhaps I am totally wrong ??

If i were god i would only have one sin: hurting others. If i were god, i would let almost everybody into heaven. (the really bad people, like hitler, wouldn't be allowed) If i were god i wouldn't care if anybody believed, or worshiped false gods as long as they did good, not harm, in that god's name. You wouldn't have to pray a certain number of times a day, or repent to me. Do you think i'd make a better god than the muslim, christian, or jewish gods?

I feel religion has caused more troubles then good. Just about every civilization has fought "holy wars." It seems religion needs to take a chill pill.
