I've heard a lot of church people on here claim that 500 people saw Jesus rise into the sky.

I wonder who came up with that idea.

The fact is no one saw him rise into the sky.

Two of Jesus uncle's employees (Jesus' uncle was a wealthy owner of a trading company) were instructed to arrange a meeting in the park, between Jesus and his followers.

When they got there the two employees were aleady there, dressed in white, and informed them that Jesus had just ascended, and was barely out of sight.

As they were craning their necks trying to see him, the two employees said "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

The suggestion was put in their heads they had seen him go, but they had not.

Total number of people who saw Jesus go up into the sky: 0

Jesus and his uncle were pretty clever; and Jesus' followers, not so much.

Since you all dodged the true meaning of my question here:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070318185012AAzKaOi&r=w

I'll start again. I wrote "I thought god was "unchanging" that's one of the reasons why he is different from us mortals. He is unchanging because he is always right and thus will never break his promises to us. But then I ask why the change of the old testament to the new? God advocated slavery, sexism and persecution of homosexuals. If he is unchanging then he hasn't changed in his views of these specific topics."

Clearly he did change his ways, another example was after the flood of Noah he created a rainbow. This was symbol that he never would do such an act again. But why? Did he feel remorse?

God did indeed change and in doing so means he isn't always right.

And please don't confuse spirituality with religion. From experience i can state that religion is for people who fear hell and spiituality is for people who have survived hell.

My husband and I are not sure how to hold her "accountable" as our church calls it when people sin or behave badly, what is the most polite way to go about this. This is the PASTOR'S WIFE....and he is a wonderful Pastor. Any ideas? Plz serious answers only. I love my church and don't want any hurt feelings.

We are in the last days. I do not claim to be a prophet. However, I do communicate with the Holy Spirit. Through much prayer and devotion He has led me to two real prophets:

http://www.kimclement.com/

Anyone have a similar experience, or know of any other tried and true prophets in receipt of the mantel from Elijah and Elisha?

Acts 2:17-18
17" 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.

I have a couple friends I work with, & they have always been known to tell the truth to me so far as I can tell.

I have worked for years with them, & one of them is a lady, the other a man.

But more recently, both of them had decided to go to a cemetary that people said is haunted for so long.

I was interested, but didn't go that time. Later, both of them started giving me the same kind of stories, but different events that happened to them.

One of them said that they didn't even go into the fenced in area of the graveyard, just stood outside, & that a few days later, he was watching tv, & he asked his girlfriend, did you see that?

No, what do you mean? He told her that he thought he saw a black shadow, out of the corner of his eye, as he turned from the tv.

The lady who went, likewise, she said spooky things had happened to her, that she knew didn't happen before she visited there.

Each of them feel like a spirit may have followed them back from there.

Do you think it's true?

I have dabbled in various religions, and would like to try a new one. Please say your religion and then a paragraph saying why I should try it out. Note for Christians and Muslims: I will not accept "You will go to Hell if you don't convert" as a reason. However, you may use any other reason you have have to show me why yours in the right one.

EDIT: Sorry, I glitched up my last question, so had to restart it.

in the book 3 nephi, Jesus appears after 3 days of darkness and a loud voice Rebukes the wicked for not being righteous. Jesus appeares and all these people are invited to touch and see His wounds. Then many migihty miracles and signs followed and the Angles appeared in glory.
Was it true?
is it less true than the bible or the koran?

i remember when i mocked the bible and the preachers too because thats what i was taught to do. i cannot reject the testimony of an angel having the book of the everlasting gospel in his hands to give to the inhabitants of the arth as testified by John in the boook of revelation ch.14:6 jkv.

How many other atheists can acknowledge that religion has done some good in this world? Or that it has done quite a lot of good for some people? And that sometimes, going on and on about how illogical it may be isn't the best thing to do, if it makes some people happy?
