one who Believes in God, and all his prophets ( there are a lot but the major ones we know are, Jesus (hazrat Isa ) peace be upon him, Moses pbuh, and Prophet Muahmmed (saw) pbuh.

Muslims strive to stay on the path of Allah and keep out of Hell fire. Muslims do not hate anyone. They do not lie, steal,cheat or preform any act that is considered morally wrong in islam.
Going to war is an obligation on a muslim to defend a muslim land. During war muslims are not allowed to kill women or children, they are not allowed to rape, they are not allowed to uproot any trees, they are not allowed to barge in on people's houses, they must respect the dead.
Muslims pray five times a day and fast a month a year. They must give charity and try to preform Hajj at least once in thier life times.
They believe in one God and his messenger prophet Mohammed. They also believe in all other prophets.
They believe that everything God has made obligatory is for a reason. They trust God and do not question his exhistance. They believe that God enlightens whoever wants to be enlightened. They can't see God but they can see him through his creations.
The Quran is the book is Islam. It is the miracle of the prophet Muhammed (pbuh). The Quran explains a way of life. It has spiritual healing properties as well as physical only for those who believe in it. It contains many miracles that prove that Islam is the true relegion. One must read it thoroughly to understand. Look up 'miracles of the Quran'.
Islam does not encourage violence. It is a relegion of peace. People who preform terrorism and violence and claim to be Muslims have sadly misunderstood the relegion.

No offense but the "muslim characterists" are also characteristics of our practicing christian and jewish brothers and sisters as well.
