Not all of those who claim to speak in tongues are doing so in the spirit of God. In the book of I Corinthians, chapter 14 and starting in verse 1, it talks about prophecy and speaking in tongues and says that when this is happening, there has to be an interpreter so that those who are around listening will know what the Holy Spirit spoke about to the one doing the speaking. If there is not an interpreter present translating for people like you and me, then it is not of the Spirit of God. I have seen scenes like you are asking about and since it is so wild to see, I understand why you think of an orgasm as a comparison. I think a whole lot of that tongues business is just a show due to the fact that I've only witnessed one such occasion where there was an interpreter who was translating as the other person spoke in tongues. It was so awesome and holy to witness that moment! It truly felt like God was in that very room and I was indeed humbled by it all. Now the other times, there have been no interpreter's and the "tongue" that was being spoken truly sounded like chicken talk, or chickens cackling over and over again, the same clucking and nothing different ever said. Getting that carried away with ones self at any time, much less in church is quite a scary thought. I wish I knew why those women want to look so stupid and draw all that attention to themselves. It for sure is nothing with which to glorify God. It is a mockery!

Wow. Interesting how someone posted that such a thought was 'malicious' against a 'Holy God.' Didn't God create orgasms? Didn't he create a drive in humans to want to experience sexual ecstasy? That is, if one believes that God exists, and that God created everything. Sometimes I doubt, but I do think that if there is a God, that God is not only creative, but exuberantly so. And that any creative, exuberant God would rejoice in the pleasure of God's creatures, and to describe an experience of God in such an ecstatic term would be quite a compliment.
Or is the poster saying that Jesus died on the cross to save us from orgasms? If that is so, then there's something wrong. I had many orgasms while still in the church. I've had many since. Looks like orgasms are part of life. Why should this experience be viewed as dirty?
I think many who experience being 'slain in the spirit' are, indeed, experiencing a sort of ecstasy. There is, certainly, a heightened sense of emotional response at 'charismatic' xtian services. I experienced a lot of joy and connection through music and singing. I have to confess, though, that being 'slain in the spirit' never worked for me. I did fall to the floor a few times, but that was largely due to the fact that the preacher was pushing so forcefully on my forehead.
Visual suggestion is a powerful thing. To stand in line for a 'healing' or a 'word of wisdom' or an 'anointing' puts one in a position of wanting to receive from God. To see others before you in line falling down when the minister pushes - it seems only natural that one would do this same thing when the preacher clamps his head on your forehead, too.
I can't vouch for others' experiences. But I know mine, and the experience of several others I spoke with, was nothing more than a desire to please (both God and congregation) coupled with physical force.

I suppose you could say so, although that is rather a vulgar way of putting it. It feels better and more correct, however, than a physical excitation of the senses. It begins more as a spiritual invasion, however, your consent is necessary. Some people are only slain 1/2 way. And the post-sensation is very much like: "I don't want to move from this spot ever again!"

Although these practices aren't done in my church, I'd personally be hesitant to belittle the beliefs of others. These people are having a profound spiritual experience in their own way, and if that's what moves them religiously, then more power to them. I think it's a little more indepth than a "spiritual orgasm", which implies a short-term experience rather than a long-term religious commitment.

IMHO, it's not of God at all. Those who speak in "unknown tongues", how do you know, if you don't even know what language you are speaking, that you aren't saying "Curse God and die" or something, even committing the unforgivable sin, blasphemy against the Holy Ghost?

No, cast that image far from you. This is the reason Jesus died on the cross and suffered for such sinful malice against a Holy God.
