I agree, but its a sign that Christ will soon be returning. In the Bible, it says that before His coming we will be persecuted by friends, family, relatives, anybody. However, if we suffer in His name, we will be rewarded in heaven. Recently my mom went to a christian convention, and one time the speaker said that if you've been persecuted withing the last 1 1/2 years because youre a christian, it's right because its showing that you're a good christian and that Jesus is returning.

As a Christian, it is hard for me to understand the anger and resentment out there towards us also. I realize that there are a lot of false prophets out there and obnoxious tv evangelists, but most Christians are good, down to earth people. It says in the Bible that Christians will be persecuted, and it has always been so. I do my best to show people through actions and acceptance, that Christians can be good, non judgemental , trustworthy, people. I think some people are mad at God and others just don't want to have to give up their own power or control to anyone else and that's why they are so down on Christianity. I think the important thing to realize is that being a Christian doesn't mean you are perfect. We are still human and still act with human emotions. It just means that we have faith and we are trying to live our best lives to serve our God.
It doesn't make us better than anyone else. I wish people could accept that, the way I accept what others believe or don't believe.

Because all you hear about in the media are a certain type of Christian. The judgemental closed minded type of person who thinks they are better than everyone else. The one's who hate gays, and drug users and "sinners". There are so many of us out there who are not Christians to judge but to love as Christ commanded us but the media doesn't show that kind of Christian unless they're doing a story on Mother Theresa. The Media paints us all with the same brush and what we have to do is go out in the world and show them what the love of Christ looks like. By doing good things, by loving the "unlovable", by acting like Christ in the world. The proof of our love will be in what we do and not what we say. It's really hard to break the stereotypes but if we pray and do what we're supposed to do they will know we are Christians by our acts of love and mercy.

There are too many Christians who act the exact opposite of Christ-like. I don't hate them; I just think they're annoying, and that they're completely missing the point of the religion that they claim to follow. You're right, not all Christians are like that, but a lot of them are, and there are plenty of examples of that on this forum.
You have no idea how happy it makes me when I see a Christian on this section who really stands out as being TRULY Christ-like. It doesn't have to be someone who is absolutely 100% perfect, but just someone who conducts themselves well, is nice, and doesn't constantly resort to insults or sarcasm where it's unnecessary. There aren't really many that stand out, but they're here, and I have a lot of respect for them. If more Christians were like them, you'd see a lot less people complaining about the group.

Why do people ask that question when it should be obvious?
You base your entire life on a 2000 year old book written by sheepherders during a time when mankind still believed the earth was flat where a man is born the son of a god by immaculate conception, water turns into wine, a man walks on water, a snake talks, a stick turns into a snake, a sea parts, and a man rises from the dead after three days, a bush talks, mankind was created from dirt, woman was created from a man’s rib, with a supposedly loving god that throws people into hell to be tortured for eternity if they didn’t do what he says during life, AND this book supports intolerance, and the promotion of prejudice and denial of the human rights of human beings like deriding homosexuality, and abortion, and the followers are EXTREMELY judgemental.
You also USE said bible to justify the terrible treatment of others, harass people in their homes (and on the street) about your religion AND you attempt to get your religion legislated into law with issues like abortion, and gay marriage.
Its obvious why so many people dislike Christianity. It doesn't matter if YOU in particular do this, because the fact is, that MOST Christians do it.
Heck, I just saw some idiot minister on tv today who was talking about "if homosexuality is genetic, then it needs to be treated with gene therapy" as though its some kind of horrific defect like having two heads.
Its disgusting.
If Christians could learn to keep their religion to themselves, we'd all get along fine. But Christians think they should get everyone else to think the way THEY do and do their damnedest to try to get everyone to do so, even if it means knocking on peoples doors to sell their religion like door to door salesman.
THAT is why people look down on Christianity. The behavior of the followers don't exactly do a whole lot to inspire others.

I don't hate Christians at all. In fact my wife is Christian. However many Christians seem to be in a constant mode of condemning those who don't believe in exactly the same things they do, while acting like total hypocrites..

I leave hate to the religious nutters of all religions, they seem to relish it even though most religions teach love not hate. I don't hate anyone but I certainly dislike a few including so-called christians whose bigotry, intolerance and hatred of others can be seen everywhere.

well heres why i hate them(not all)
because every time i post something about my religion (Wicca) christians have to put thier nose into my buisness and either answer with a bible verse and telling me im satanic or message me and tell me that i worship lucifer and give me sites that some stupid narcissistic made to put down Wiccans and they think its all facts.
they think they are better than all the other religions and they look down on everyone who doesn't follow "christ"
then when we explain ourselves they get all touchy and put their fingers in their ears yelling " LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!" because they don't want to associate with someone who doesn't follow their god.
YOU might not have, i don't know. but its happened so many times, i have even had to delete some of my questions because i go so sick of hear it. if you aren't like it, good i'm glad. one less asshole.
if you do and you don't care... read this again.
