I hope this doesn't sound like a frivolous question, because it most definitely isn't. My father couldn't answer it when he was alive, so now I'm going to pose it to Y!A:

About a year before he died, my father was awarded the Red Cross of Constantine, and my question is -- why is the Red Cross of Constantine purple?

My father was very honored by the recognition, but couldn't tell me why his sash was purple. Regardless -- the photographs that I have of him after the ceremony will always be among my most treasured possessions. He was so proud.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

My fellow Christians please do not be offended I say this with love.

The U.S. of A was not founded as a Christian Nation per se. Yes there were some Christian principles indoctrinated in the founding of this great country but, not as a Christian nation. America was and is a secular nation with a large Christian constituency.

The kid across the great pond was the place to go to practice religion of choice.

To practice the religion of choice became official with the first amendment to the Constitution. Those first ten amendments are known as The Bill of Rights:

Amendment I: Freedom of speech, religion, press, petition and assembly.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

May the Grace and Love of the Lord Jesus be with you all.

I'm convinced and ready to convert just about 3 more questions:

Do RCIA classes start at a certain time or can I sign up at any time?

I've been studying catholicism for 2 years now and I was raised but not baptized a baptist so I'm familiar with the bible and Jesus will this shorten the amount of lessons I must take?

Would it be possible (if there is no specific time to sign up for classes) to finish lessons and take on the sacraments by this easter or would I have to wait to next easter?

I'm sorry if I seem impatient I'm just excited and I thank Jesus Christ for leading me to his True Church?

Please I beg of you protestants don't object to my conversion I was raised a baptist and I know what they're preaching is not what the apostles preach and the early christians believed.

God Bless and thank you all on this forum for helping me.

Like I know first hand about drug abuse in my home when I was little. I know how it can tear families apart. So I would love to teach people about that.

Theists: Please list a book other than your Holy books, no Korans or Bibles or Torahs. I know about those, I'm seeking to see what other books are popular with particular people.

What then is the point of judgement day? Isn't God supposed to be the one who decides if you are saved? And, if you are already saved, does that mean that you can now go out and commit sin, without worrying wether you are going to make it to heaven? Is this why serial killers get saved after they get to prison?

Aspiritual means not spiritual. It wasn't a typo. One person seems to think I'm addressing HER personally."You" is a general term. The Constitution says that the government will not establish [a national religion] such as they had in England. The concept of "separation of church and state" was not even part of the American vernacular(look it up) until the 20th century.Read a book called, "Five Lies of the Century" by David T. Moore. He quotes the founding fathers verbatum from speeches and papers preserved in the national archives. Like I said. Don't believe everything someone tells you or you'll just be parroting their opinion. SEE the facts. I had 10 responses before I got my question fully submitted. Makes me think of little green men hovering over the web site waiting for another chance to attack rather than "discuss". The things you accuse me of are exactly what you do to me. Don't bother to respond. This site is absurd, illiterate & a waste of time. Insults are not "discussion"

God actually COMMANDED adultery?
Do you want to take the chance of going to hell because you failed to commit adultery? After all, if it really is wrong, you'll be forgiven through Christ anyway...
(yes, this is a Pascal's Wager question - drink -)
