Aspiritual means not spiritual. It wasn't a typo. One person seems to think I'm addressing HER personally."You" is a general term. The Constitution says that the government will not establish [a national religion] such as they had in England. The concept of "separation of church and state" was not even part of the American vernacular(look it up) until the 20th century.Read a book called, "Five Lies of the Century" by David T. Moore. He quotes the founding fathers verbatum from speeches and papers preserved in the national archives. Like I said. Don't believe everything someone tells you or you'll just be parroting their opinion. SEE the facts. I had 10 responses before I got my question fully submitted. Makes me think of little green men hovering over the web site waiting for another chance to attack rather than "discuss". The things you accuse me of are exactly what you do to me. Don't bother to respond. This site is absurd, illiterate & a waste of time. Insults are not "discussion"

Do you not get it? This is a question and answer site, and by posting a statement, and not wanting responses, you yourself are being a hypocrite like the ones you have spoken of. You begin by making a point about the founding fathers, but then droll off into some incoherent rhetoric about people giving you a hard time. True, insults are not discussions, but neither are questions without questions. They just become statements, and that is not what this website is about.

By the way, I will point out the irony in my answer (or lack there of). I didn't answer anything, just posted a response to your statement, which is, again, not what this place is for. Oh my, how confusing it gets. Just relax, and ask a question next time.

P.S. Almost missed this. You quoted the 1st ammendment wrong. It says the following:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Notice the part about respecting an establishment, which is different from your ". . . the government will not establish [a national religion] such as they had in England." Nice try, but alas, false facts again rear their ugly head. Read the personal letters of Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and other documents such as the Treaty of Tripoli. They clearly state that this government has nothing to do with ANY religion. Hence the term seperation of church and state. Just 'cause the Bill of Rights doesn't use those EXACT words, doesn't mean educated people are not able to digest the real meaning. People just like to take fifth grade vocabularies and twist things to their likings.

I'm not sure what your previous question was, but just wanted to nitpick a bit.

The Constitution doesn't say the government will not establish a national religion. It says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

"Separation of church and state" was first used by Thomas Jefferson in 1802, when indeed referring to establishment of a national religion. However, the exact phrase he used was "wall of separation between church and state."

Good Lord! Why don't you take a break from the internet. Your attitude is distasteful. You're not interested in answers, you're just on her to pontificate and push your views others. You're arrogant, self-centered, and although you claim to be Christian, all your messages seem to be cheerleading for the Devil, because you are not imitating christ at all. It's no wonder Atheists and others think Christians are hyprocrites and mean, because that is exactly how you're acting. Someone needs to report you, because posting questions and then answering them is against yahoo answers TOS. Go find a group or chatroom if you want to vent and rant.

I missed the question under discussion but I have read enough to know you are correct about the Constitution. I do disagree about the website however...The site is a wonderful theory, just most people are to ignorant to hold an intellectual conversation....Good luck to you, I wish I could have caught you before you left.

Separation of church and state is from a letter written in 1802 by Thomas Jefferson explaining what the intent of the wording in the Constitution was. Perhaps you need to look it up.

On behalf of those of us who actually read questions and don't insult questioners, I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I know you didn't want a response, but I felt you might like to know some of us are quite literate.

This is the first question I ever saw from you.

It starts with insulting me, and it ends with stating that insults are not discussion. I agree with that last part.

Relax.

If you don't like the style of discussion here, perhaps there is another place you may want to go to discuss this subject matter. Just a thought.
