Absolutely. Consider the following:
• Operation Snow White – Under this program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

• Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
The official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html

• Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”

• Physical and psychological maltreatment: Scientologists who "break the rules" while members of the "Sea Org" must subject themselves to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), which includes regimes of harsh physical punishment, forced self-confessions, social isolation, hard labor and intensive ideological indoctrination.

• Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

• Tragic Murder - A CBS “48 Hours” special on Jeremy Perkins, the mentally disturbed son of Scientologist parents who refused to put him on the anti-psychotic drugs that would have stabilized him & prevented him from killing his own mother.

I have not found it dangerous. i have studied and practiced Scientology for the past 7 years.
The only danger i have experienced is attacks by people that do not understand what Scientology is.
I have met many, able and sane, people that were willing to look and make a decision for themselves.
I think anything in life could be considered dangerous. A car if used incorrectly can kill, does that mean all cars are dangerous. No of course not. But put a car in the hands of a less able being and wham-mo!! Dead bodies, crippled people and distraught families.
As with any religion if you apply Scientology to yourself and others correctly we all move forward a step.

*sighs*
Michael, theta, why try to talk to these guys? They are all surpressive, and blind because they are not smart enough to check it out for themselves. Meer sheep I tell ya.
And No it isnt dangerous, but we will stick up for our religion because we have the right! Just like all religions that have ever exisited...it wont happen without critisism, but I stand behind it, it works for me and all Ive seen. So whatever..all of these insults make me even stronger to stick by my faith.

Most people get into it and see the foolishness and then get out. It has gotten a little more secretive and protective of outer influence of its new members since my experience 30 years ago. But then everything was a lot looser back in the 70's.

aren't all "religious" organizations or any groups where people of one belief unite for a cause, dangerous in their own way?

Only financially. People tend to get creeped out by Scientologists, too.
I don't know why somebody would join that. I guess for moral code. Since they obviously can't believe that stuff.. Can they?

scientology can't be called a church for this reason.......take the word CHURCH...........CH as in the beginning of the word CHRIST..........UR as in you are a part of CHRIST......and CH as in CHRIST. You will also notice that CH as in CHRIST comes at the beginning and the end of the word......meaning CHRIST is the beginning and ending of every part of our lives. where in scientology do they follow the teachings of CHRIST? where and when does CHRIST play a part in their lives?
