I'm not being mean, just making a point that it's ridiculous that some people ask why atheists are here.

And I was also pointing out how it's foolish to claim that it is not a religion (only few Christians do, but I've seen it often enough).

All of these additions.. Okay, I'm not really saying that I think it's either. To Christians, it is both. I think some people got the wrong idea. There are a few who say it is only a relationship, and not a religion. That's why I asked this question, as well as to (at least temporarily) make people consider why atheists would be here. Let us compare, eh?

By the definition of the word, yes Christianity is a religion. But, its more than a "religion"; its a relationship as well.

From the beginning there has always existed a true religion and a true church and a false religion and a false church. They have grown up together for about 2,000 years.
You have the idea, not a religion but a relationship and not an organization but an organism are statements that tend to explain the difference between sheep and goats.
Amid all this the eternal God has started another creation inside the one you are familiar with. In this new creation He is busy cloning Jesus Christ. It was no accident that the first clone was a sheep.
If it were just up to me, I would move to bio-astronautics and not bother you.

christians claim that it is a relationship with "god" and they say that it is seperate and above all other religions because it is not a religion according to them. in my belief that is all total bull. it is a religion like any other it causes violence, hate, anger, and death just like any other religion. and hypocrites are so often found within the religion that the few that actually believe what they are preaching are such fanatics and they hate so many people simply because their religion tells them that these people are evil while at the same time their bible says that they should "love their neighbor as themself" and "love their enemies" some of the ideas to christianity are good but the people of the religion have twisted it so horribly that it is a pointless religion. just like any other

um because it is lol. what makes you think that it's just a relationship. Christianity is a religion that tells you that you must form a relationship with god and believe that jesus die on the cross for your sins. You don't know much about Christianity. You should look more into it if you want to.

Christianity is a religion with many different branches that pretty much sum up to belief in the Bible. A relationship is the personal dynamic between the believer & the higher power they believe in regardless of religion.

Christianity is a religion however those who are Christians have a living relationship with Jesus Christ. So it I guess you could say Christianity is a religion based upon individual relationships with Christ!
Hope that helps!
God Bless!

Nobody understands that Christianity is a realationship Between you and Jesus Christ. They think that we are a cult with a bunch of rituals and rules and stuff like that. But all we are about is Knowing God as your personal savior. who loves you and died for you to save you from eternal seperation from him. There are no rules. I mean there are things we arent suppose to do, that will hurt us. He only wants the best for us. and we might be moral, but there isnt anything wrong with having standards or values when they arent hurting anyone. It hurts when the most however when ppl call us a cult. Because that is the exact opposite of what we are.

It's both.
I would describe it as a religion that's based on a relationship.
It's just that the word "religion" now has some pretty ugly connotations, so a lot of people don't like to think of it as a religion.
Dictionary.com defines religion as
"a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects"
which Christianity obviously is

Yes. why would someone who has a relationship with the holy spirit of God want to talk about it on here? That's personal, not anyones business? The joy in there heart MUST be suppressed of course.
they need to be in there closet praying .your totally right of course
Um. what do you think it is that your REALLY asking.?
your maybe jealous?resentful? just like to ask questions?
concerned about peoples souls?have nothing better to do?you got hollered at by your boss today?Good question though.

by the world's standards, it is. But we weren't called to just perform religious practices, it was (and in some cases still is) a relationship with God.
and that's like asking atheists why they're here. no offense, but this was kind of a waste of points....
