There's so many religions and beliefs floating around in the world. How do we know which one to chose? Which one should we live our lives by? Is there any way of knowing? Is there one that's different than all the others?
What's the meaning of this life?

Religion = a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe

Do not be quick to decide. This is the most important decision that you will ever make. Choosing your religion.

As depressing as it is, I was raised by a family with a heavy Christian Science background- just about the doctors, though. When I was five, my grandfather was saved twice, before finally turning blue for the third time.
I see forcing life upon people as cruel, as a result of that and many of my secular lessons in life.
Why is it so bad to let sextuplets die rather than have bblood trasnfusions?
What right does the state have to FORCE unnatrual treatment onto beings that will most likely be half-brain-dead or at least emotionally starved by parents who have little left in them after only one or two children, at the end of the day?
Why does our society not just accept that we are NOT god, and no amount of medicine is going to fix that?

Did you like it? Or not?

What did you like or dislike about it?

I have never read it, which is why I am asking.

In my mind, being ignorant of something means that you do not know of it in some way, shape or form, but being stupid means that you know of something but you still persist in rejecting its truth. Therefore, I view ignorance as being better than stupidity, because at least ignorant people can say that they have never heard of whatever it is, whereas stupid people say they have heard of it but persist in ridiculous rebellion against it for some reason unbeknownst to myself and others. What do y'all think about this?

My reason for doing this: Apparently, people are (again) getting the wrong idea of me (and Christians in general), so here goes:

hi.

I'm Doug, and I'm a born-again Christian.

I love you. Jesus loves you.

Have a great day.

I do this about 3 times a month, so bear with me.

:D

I have alot going on in my life. And it seems that it is all falling apart at the seems. I hate discussing my issues but better with strangers than with people i know. I'm stuck at a fork in the road and i don't know which one to take, I've seen people travel down both and I'v seen them fail and succeed. I want to play basketball but can't even make my Comm college team. And I'm getting into real estate investing. That's one of the roads now do i quit basketball my love and passion for money? or do i try n go for both. I love basketball but i can't go anywhere in it. If i do work, then all i will do is make money. I dont like either one. My ultimate goal in life is to help the Phillipines as a country, and i can do it through basketball but like i said i can't even make my college team. Can you pray for me and ask the holy spirit to guide me in my walk? also, if oyu have advice let me know. I'm open to anything.

I have noticed many are very critical of other people's beliefs or disbeliefs. Sort of stepping back and looking at this and wondering why they do this or bother to do this...is it insecurity with themselves???

just curious

Excluding beliefs like "It's ok to kill, hurt, or take away thr rights of other people", of course. If you don't try to force your belief on others and don't use your belief to hurt anyone, is any belief really wrong?

Discuss.

Analogy time:

If you bought a brand new car, with a 5 year warranty and in year 3 the engine blew. You take it in to the dealership saying, fix this, this is your fault. But what if the dealership said it was your fault because you were driving too fast all of the time, which was true.

Whose fault is the blown engine, the manufacturer for making a poor engine, or the driver for not following the instructions of the manufacturer?

An excerpt from the Skeptic's Annonated Bible:

From "Good things in the Bible"

------------------------------------

"Love one another."
Except for all those antichrists (non-Christians), that is.

-------------------------------------------

You've gotta be kidding me.

Is this what non-believers think? We're called to love everyone but them?

sigh...

I'm no serial killer or anything, but I have to say that I'm afraid that I'll either go to hell or else my next life will be really crappy. Sometimes I like the possibility of there being an afterlife, but other times, I just wonder why we can't just be dead after we've died.

So what happens with all the apostles (John, Luke , Paul, Mary, James, etc) where are they? and don´t tell in the middle i never seen a middle between heaven and earth.
Because the bible says: Thessalonians 4:14-16

14 For if our faith is that Jesus died and rose again, so, too, those who have fallen asleep [in death] through Jesus God will bring with him. 15 For this is what we tell YOU by God’s word, that we the living who survive to the presence of the Lord shall in no way precede those who have fallen asleep [in death]; 16 because the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.

And it hasn´t yet?
