(I'm an agnostic atheist, i.e I don't believe in God but I'm open to being wrong if better evidence presents itself.)

If you were in a failing jetliner, hanging off a cliff, something like that where there was no hope of escape, would you pray?

I think I would...I mean, I don't think it would do anything, but it couldn't hurt, and it's not like there's anything else I could really do.

Once I was back in my right mind, though, I don't think I'd be a theist. I have to arrive at a decision through logic and facts (not saying theists are illogical and ignorant) before I'll stick with it; a decision made in the heat of the moment is rarely a good one. For neutral territory, think of it as shopping. I might be tempted to grab something shiny and electronic off the shelf, but that doesn't mean I really want it.

would not the one true god tell him what an earth year is?

islam uses the crescent moon as it's symbol and uses a lunar calendar and prior to islam they worshipped a moon god and still have a so called moon rock at the kaaba....
http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/moongod.htm
The eastern cornerstone of the Kaaba is the Hajar el Aswad, (the sacred "Black Stone"), which is generally thought to be a meteorite remnant.
At the time of Muhammad, his tribe, the Quraysh was in charge of the Kaaba, which was at that time a shrine to numerous Arabian tribal gods.

As we all know religion is just another means of control, hence the world is in constant turmoil caused by religious leaders of innumerable faiths, all claiming theirs is the one true path to Heaven and only they can tell you how to achieve eternal happiness, while at the same time lining their collective pockets.( witness the vast fortunes of all religion's leading bodies, and the poverty of their followers) But if you don't agree with them you are condemned to an eternity of Hell
How can we rid the world of this cancer and live peaceful and happy lives?.

...you need not to do a great things, or work that makes you known throughout the world. Just simply do your job or the things assigned to you. Above all by doing good things to others for the love of God.

I will not go into the reasons why I do not believe in God. I can go on and on about evolution, big bang theory, science in general, etc.. but I will not. I am no scientist. So when asked: "do you believe in God?" I say no. Not that I question his existence, I just don't believe in him/her/being. This is why:

I sit in silence, overwhelmed with grief, not for myself (although there is plenty for me to gripe about), but for the immense suffering in this world; now and throughout history. I think to myself: "how is this possible?", "what can I do?", "I'm tired...I don't want to live.....there is no point...."

God all these years I've prayed to you, without any response, at times my requests have been selfish I know, but I always kept hope alive, my grandma always said "he doesn't respond but he is listening", So please I only ask for one thing this night, I am on my knees pleading, crying...please save me....Nothing but:

Silence.......Silence.........Silence......
