When someone is spiritual you will see that what their doing is natural and not put on. To be a Christian we need to take the first step and receive Jesus as our Savior. To be spiritual we need to receive the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His disciples that He had many things to share with them but they could not bare them now. But that He would send the Holy Ghost who could lead them into all truths. That is what made them Spiritual. Peter denied Christ three times in one night but after receiving the Holy Ghost he stood up a preached Christ and three thousand souls were saved. He later was martyred for Jesus who he had earlier denied.

I define 'spirituality' as the 'fruits of the spirit'. It is the activity of the spirit as it works in us. Our spirit may or may not give us certain experiences, but I think that all humans have a spirit, though some of us are not acquianted with what it's doing and do not associate whatever it may be doing as a 'spiritual' matter.

In a Christian context, the spirit is attributed to God. It entered into men when God breathed his life into Adam. Therefore all men have the spirit and it is through the nature of sin that some do not recognize the words that God gave us in the Bible. They also do not recognize that still inner voice that God communicates us that a Christian is supposed to recognize as God's influence. That's why a Christian is supposed to read the Bible and pray, and fast, and love others; those acts of faith are supposed to keep us in step with the direction that God is able to supply us with. We are more capable of knowing what direction we are supposed to go, and feel more confident about that direction IF we are that 'optimized'.

The Cambridge Dictionaries Online (dictionary.Cambridge.org.) provides a definition of the predominate modern understanding of “spirituality.”

The quality of being concerned with deep, often religious, feelings and beliefs, rather than with the physical parts of life.

I understand that spirituality is seeing and living earthly life on the basis of belief in the unseen forces of this universe and by means of the innate and learned qualities of human awareness and thought. My definition is broad and conceivably includes every notion that forms the basis for how any person lives their life; but not all notions of spirituality are grounded truth. True spirituality is summarized in the Christian Bible in the following ways.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Love you neighbor as yourself.

The righteous shall live by faith.

Without faith it is impossible to please God for whoever would come to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.

The only thing that counts is faith working through love.

Treat others as you would have them treat you.

All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, correction, training in righteousness, and the thorough equipping of God's servants.

God's Law came through Moses, but Grace and Truth came through Jesus the Messiah.

Before releasing Jesus to be crucified, the Roman Governor Pilate asked Jesus: "What is truth?" Whether he was sincere or not, this is the honest question the sincere seeker of true spirituality must ask. For the seeker true spirituality always begins with honesty. Jesus told a parable about a sower who sowed seed on soil that was hardened as a path, that was rocky, that had thorns and weeds, and the cultivated or good soil. Each kind of soil represented a persons quality of heart and the seed represented God's word. This is explained in Luke 8, but the good soil is the good and honest heart, and only the good soil produces a good crop from the word of God.

Spirituality is a matter of professing your faith and following through with it by building up your relationship with God and by allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you in your daily walk.

John 14:17
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
