The word of God does.
I could look up a bunch of scripture for you but the bottom line is if you claim you are a Christian and act contrary to what God's word says, then you are in sin or a hypocrite or maybe both.
You can identify those the bible says by their fruit.
The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, faithfulness, kindness, gentleness, self control & goodness.
These are the atributes that Christians should imunate/practice.
If opposite fruit is evident on a consistant basis and they don't seem remorseful when they obviously screw up then they are probably not true christians who are in Christ. but deceived

I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.
Being regenerated on a daily basis in my walk with Him.
I am eternally secure in Christ alone....and will spend eternity with Him in heaven.

IT IS THE SPIRIT OF GOD THAT LIVES THROUGH YOU AS YOU CONTINUE TO SEEK HIM ON A DAILY BASIS.GOD WILL OPEN YOUR EYES TO HIS HEART AND THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE YOUR LIFE THROUGH HIS EYES.AND THIS IS WHEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT YOUR LIFE IS BEING DEFINED.

--Jehovah God and Christ Jesus do the defining! Please note some Scriptures, that indeed can do revealing & refining for ourselves also:
(Hebrews 4:12-13) “12Â For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart. 13Â And there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting.”
(Philippians 3:13-16) “13Â Brothers, I do not yet consider myself as having laid hold on [it]; but there is one thing about it: Forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead, 14Â I am pursuing down toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God by means of Christ Jesus. 15Â Let us, then, as many of us as are mature, be of this mental attitude; and if YOU are mentally inclined otherwise in any respect, God will REVEAL(my caps) the above [attitude] to YOU. 16Â At any rate, to what extent we have made progress, let us go on walking orderly in this same routine.”
--ALSO please note the view we should have that, we DO NOT do the approving ourselves but that we allow God & Christ do the approving:
(1 Corinthians 4:1-5) “4 Let a man so appraise us as being subordinates of Christ and stewards of sacred secrets of God. 2Â Besides, in this case, what is looked for in stewards is for a man to be found faithful. 3Â Now to me it is a very trivial matter that I should be examined by YOU or by a human tribunal. Even I do not examine myself. 4Â For I am not conscious of anything against myself. Yet by this I am not proved righteous, but he that examines me is Jehovah. 5Â Hence do not judge anything before the due time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring the secret things of darkness to light and make the counsels of the hearts manifest, and then each one will have his praise come to him from God.”
--So even as honest as Paul was he knew he could not do the proper appraisal of himself, ---We to should also be careful that we do not think we have that power, although as the following text shows we do indeed have to have a measure of self-worth:
(Romans 12:3) “3Â For through the undeserved kindness given to me I tell everyone there among YOU not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think; but to think so as to have a sound mind, each one as God has distributed to him a measure of faith.”
-- This should also help us to determine where in measurements we are as imperfect individuals, trying to practice true christianity, and the need for sincerety on our part:
(1 Peter 2:21-23) “21 In fact, to this [course] YOU were called, because even Christ suffered for YOU, leaving YOU a model for YOU to follow his steps closely. 22 He committed no sin, nor was deception found in his mouth. 23 When he was being reviled, he did not go reviling in return. When he was suffering, he did not go threatening, but kept on committing himself to the one who judges righteously. . .”
--AN INTERESTING TEXT --from the Steven T. Byington Translation "THE BIBLE IN LIVING ENGLISH" states at
2 Corinthians 12:5-7 "Make the test of yourselves, if you are in the faith; see about your own genuineness. Or do you not recognize in your own case that Jesus Christ is in you?---unless you are counterfeit, but I hope you will find that we are not counterfeits. But we pray to God that you many not do anything bad, not in order that we may show up as genuine but that you may be doing what is good........"
--Is Christ our model or do we follow any human in our Christianity, for their approval?

My guess is that I would define myself. I don't think anyone else would be qualified to define me.
