the only thing that creates seperatness is belief. We are all human, our anatomy is no different.
Belief causes war, belief cause bigotry, belief causes the illusion of judging yourself to be better than, belief causes crime, belief causes all of what ails humanity.

I'm a Christian and know for sure my ultimate mission on earth is to spread the gospel (as mentioned in Matthew) so why should I study so bloody hard (I'm 16) and and contribute to the human race/get a nice job in the future? Heaven and earth will fade and only the Word will remain, so I think there's no point in working so hard (eg people busy contributing to the human race in different fields, or, for those ambitious/aggressive ones, getting a high position in a firm/party/organisation) in this material world given all we do for material is absurd and will amount to absolutely nothing. So why doesn't every Christian just become a preacher and evangelise all day long? I don't see any reason to study anything except the Bible and to work so hard for so many things, eg government reform, stock speculation, knowledge discovery and scientific advancement, etc.

No offence meant to my fellow Christians; I'm just dying to know the answer.

I have disagreed for a while now with churches focusing primarily on the promises of God, of what we are going to get, and how God has promised to make us healthy, wealthy, happy, and wise.I am amazed at how we are ate up with "prosperity teaching". I am currently reading a textbook that is an introduction into biblical theology, and at the end of each chapter, the author puts a memory bible verse and a hymn. As I was reading one of the hymns, I stopped at the verse
"Jesus the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease;
Tis music in the sinner's ears,
Tis life and health and peace."
Seems to me that the people who wrote these hymns had a lot more realistic expectations of God than we do today. Agree or Disagree? Why?

Toinght I did. A 59 year old man who had been on life support for several months was taken off lifesupport. A man who when I arrived had a heartbeat, I watched the monitor go down until it was simply a straight line, I looked over at the doctor, he was looking at his wrist watch and simply stated, 6:53.
I know the family personally and they attend the church. I did not have much to say, once in awhile I would offer words of encouragement.
Will you please have the Boothe family in your thoughts and prayers?

Also, I will be performing the funeral. This is my first. I am very nervous but I know the Holy Spirit will guide me. I hope I can offer something truly spiritual and comforting from this family. May the Lord use me to share his Word with the family. Please, pray for me as I plan and prepare.

I am an atheist, but i have no problem with religion. I personally do not believe in god, but if you do good for you. What i hate is when people spend a long time trying to get me to admit that they are right and that there is a god. It sucks when people do this because if you argue against some one you offend their religion and they get all pissy.

My problems with Christianity:
1. No physical proof at all
2. If Noah was real, wouldn't every one be the same race as him?
3. Splitting the sea??
4. If god is all powerful and wants what is best for us, why do children get sick and die before they get a chance to live? Either god is not all powerful, or he does not want the best for humanity.
5. Christians only comeback is "it is part of his plan"

Has scientific knowledge ever caused you to question your faith?

Do you say anything when a science teacher asserts something that conflicts with your beliefs?

Personal story:
A while back, I wrote a mesage to my science professor questioning the assertion made in the textbook that birds evolved from reptiles. If you are familiar with the Bible, you know that it states that everything produces after its own kind. He never responded to my e-mail. Did I overstep my boundaries?

Do you believe that scientific knowledge is beneficial to mankind? If so, why? If not, why not?

What if Biblical Knowlege existed, but no Scientific Knowledge existed? Conversely, what if Scientific Knowledge existed, but no Biblical Knowledge existed?
