Dude, you can participate in the world or not, nobody cares what you do. But you say evangelism is your mission on earth? Tell me this: Who is going to listen to an airhead kid with no education, no accomplishments and no life experience? How can such a person presume to council others when he's never lived in the real world or done anything substantial? Who is going to take you seriously? Where do you think wisdom comes from? Books?
Any fool can spew bible verses. That's the problem with the typical door-to-door evangelists -- they know nothing. They can recite a canned speech but that's about all. That's why hardly anybody listens to them.
Most importantly -- and you won't believe this but I'll tell you anyway -- at age 16 you don't have a clue what you'll be in just a few years. By the time you're 20 you could could be an atheist, a Buddhist or a money grubbing entrepreneur. Trust me, idealistic religious kicks can burn out pretty quick.

How do you plan on financing your mission and your preaching? Re-read Matthew and all the Gospels. Pay close attention to where Jesus says to go into all the corners of the world. Jesus is saying we are to go everywhere there is people and teach them the Love of Jesus and the truth of the Gospels. How are we to get to some people if we are uneducated?
If all you study is the Bible and nothing else you are shutting the door to many, many witnessing opportunities. Knowing the Bible is very important. Relating to who you are witnessing to is also important.
You should be praying for God to reveal His will for you to you. Let God be your guide with what you do with your life.
If every Christian were to become a preacher every church would have a full platform and empty pews. Not only that but then no one would be qualified to talk to these non-christian ambitious people.
I work in a technical field. God not only blessed me with a good job and plenty of income opportunities (I am not wealthy) but many opportunities to share His word and His love with clients and co-workers.

If all the Christians studied the Bible and evangelized that would be great. But the fact is that theThe Bible says GO....into ALL the world. That means work fields too. Evangelist can't reach were some that are working in an office can. Working and putting yourself in politics, teaching, etc. may have a great impact for the cause of Christ. As could any other profession. If God told us to live in commune and keep to ourselfs then that would be a different story but to go means to go. Plus the Bible also says if a man won't work, don't feed him. Also, when you do work, you need to do it as unto the Lord. So if you are flipping burgers at McDonalds, you need to do it for the Lord, not your boss and so forth.

Hey Im glad you asked. Its to help people. Why do you think being a professional is un Christian?
You can have a doctor who treats you like a machine - he just couldnt care less. He could look over your sholder when hes talking to you because youre an young and dont have much money. Its because he has no ethics. Do you want to let people like that take over?
Or isnt it better if the doctor takes all that nonsense about loving your patient seriously? He makes you sit down, closes the door and tries his best to listen even though hes been up all night. An later he gives you his cell number if you have problems. Why? because hes a self-critical person, and he goes to church. Doesnt that make all the difference?
When you study you feel like a nerd because you dont feel like it helps anyone. But just wait because, youre really a future asset to God!
...so surgery exam for me tomorrow, good luck to you man.

you see this at 16?? wow.....I'm just shy of 38 and I am just now realizing all this.
I use to do the dream.....work hard, work for home, more toys, more cars, etc etc....and after I got it all, several times....I realize I was actually more miserable than when I didn't have it all.
Lately I have downsized myself to the bare basics for the most part. No longer work full time, but part time. It does help that I own the company but still, I could easily triple my income if I went back to 45 hr wk, but instead I spend that time doing my Bible studies.
I have tried to figure out how to be a preacher or to at least be able to spread his word, but I have yet to see way to make a living doing it. Cause besides preacher, I don't believe in making money off the Lord. For he even says to give away what is given to you. And knowledge is given, so I cannot charge for that.
Still working on this hurtle.....but past impressed that you see what I see. Consider yourself a person with no world blinders....don't let anyone tell you different.
Peace brother.

Are you saying that it is a waste serving society as
a Christian lawyer (keeping the ten commandments in public places), a Christian doctor (giving medical help to the poor), ect.? Everybody has different talents. Not everyone was meant to be a preacher. Do what you do best, make
a good living, give money, and use your talents to help your local church, society, and the poor.

hey, i get what your trying to say
i think the same thing myself sometimes...
i see life on earth as a sort of 'test'
if we pass, we will go to heaven
yes, material wealth is not so important. it is foolish to waste your life accumulating it, because when we die, we won't have it anymore!
Jesus came on earh to help us out
he said (about helping others) "what you do for the least of my brothers, you do it for me"
So if you help someone, its helping Jesus
that person is more likely to help others, becuase you helped them and they liked that
its a bit like a chain reaction, it truly does work,
if we all just became preachers, it wouldnt really be doing everyone a great deal of help. if no one works, our world wont function.
i'm not making fun of what you are trying to say, but if we all became preachers, no one would go to uni and study would they? if you got sick, where would the docters be? If you need legal help, where are the lawers? if you want to learn, where are the teachers? who would provide food for everyone?
etc. i think u get the point....
studying and working hard at school is not just about going to uni or tafe or whatever and getting a good job that gives you financial security so you can buy a nice house and car etc.
whatever you choose to become in life (except a bludger or criminal lol) will be helping others. you are contributing to society. thihk about all the things that society does for you....
people make playstation games, write books, make cool movies, the government pays people to work and they all play their part in society, they may be teachers, rubbish collectors, farmers, computer engineers etc.
life is alot different to what it was in jesus' day! if i went out and started preaching, poeple would be like, WTF? there are nasty poeple out there who would make fun of me, reject everything that i tried to teach them and say that Jesus didnt do any good etc.
also, if you are from another religion, they may find it hard to accept what i was saying. buddhists dont believe in an actual god, so they would find it weird
studying can be a total pain in the butt! (im a 16 yr old student aswell I KNOW THE PAIN!!!!!!!) but i want to work hard so that i can get a job that will help people and the environment.
if we do good on earth, we will be rewarded in heaven
im not trying to say that you can't preach the gospel! YOU CAN!!! i try to. just by helping others with their homework, or comfortung them when they are sad or helping them with a problem, you are doing good AND SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS! maybe not telling them everything about Jesus and the gosples, but you are certaintly doing what God is asking us to do.
i guess that the only person that can really answer your question is you. in life, you have to decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong. that is the gift of judgement that God has given us...
i hope that my very long answer helps you out a bit!
god bless!
p.s. good luck with school!

We come into this world in our birthday suit, when we leave we take nothing but our works and our knowledge. God has given us the ability to learn and grow as individuals. Basically, I see in humanity you use the gifts he's given or you lose them. I'm sure our Knowledge will continue growing in the Kingdom of Heaven. You have been given individual gifts from God to use, take advantage of those gifts and especially things which make you grow. Do it in the fruit of the spirit of God for only good will come of it then, and great will be your reward in the kingdom of Heaven.

I'm 41yrs old, bible study is my favorite part of the day. Actually it's a huge part of my day. It's like solving a puzzle which would be faster and easier if I didn't have to brush up on history, math, science, vocabulary etc, etc. God has a purpose for well educated servants! Study everything you can and apply these skills to your bible study and service to Him. :)

It's because of the way this world is set up...how we humans have set things to work....you have to get a job, pay rent or buy a house. We're not set up like the early church was totally dependent on each other...Even Paul had a "secular" job of tent-making when he wasn't in prison.
