Because that would spoil all the fun.

Ah, my dear friend! =) You have hit the question that I believe every person in the universe asks at some time. It will take more than a little blurb on the internet to explain that, but I will say that God has defeated Satan already by His death on the Cross. The Devil's power will not be completely destroyed until the Last Judgment, when he will be cast into the lake of fire. God uses Satan's temptations as a means of sorting His children from those that reject Him. Also, believers are sanctified and led closer to God through pain and suffering. "Pain is God's megaphone to a deaf and dying world." C.S. Lewis

Because though satan has caused much evil he is not the route of it. In every man and womans heart there is a sinful nature and satan is a great deciever and uses that to manipulate us. God has already set a date for satans fall.

Satan IS doomed. You can read about this in Revelation, which is why satan uses so many devices to keep people from reading Revelation. He doesn't want us to read of his eternal doom to the Lake of Eternal Fire. Satan has been condemned, we're just waiting for the execution of it. In God's timing at the end of the 1000 yr millenium, satan will be cast to the Lake of Eternal Fire forever. Satan is trying to take as many people with him as he can, so he roams the earth like a lion, trying to steal, rob and destroy as many lives as he can. Unfortunately some people fall for his tactics and do not even realize it.. We all choose Lord or satan as our master. The Lord said in His Word that we cannot serve two masters. The choice is ours. If you choose Jesus, you'll go to be with Him in Heaven where He's prepared a place for you. If you choose satan or choose not to choose, you'll go to be with the one who successfully deceived you, satan in the lake of eternal fire. Read the bible, it's all in there!

Because God needs Satan. He is an example of evil, an example of what not to do. You must see evil to know what is good. It is the great balance. Without that balance Christianity would not be...and if you do not understand this you do not understand Christianity.

pay attention!
In Genesis, remember, "Don't let the human eat the fruit of the tree of IMMORTALITY, or he will be like us!"
The devil is immortal. Can't get rid of. Must cage. Must trap. Must put divider between....

"Evil" is the destructive, recycling aspect of Creation. Though "spirits" have the choice to do good or evil.
Our Creator cannot destroy the whole of Creation just because one soul lets itself get caught up!

Because just like a trash can serves a purpose so does the great black one. If you choose to use your freewill to harm others then you get to spend eternity with him!
It's no freakin' joke either, trust me, I've met him, and there's nothing like eternal darkness completely disconnected from god forever!

Neither he nor the devil exist. If there is "evil" here, if you look at it closely, you will see that it's very human.

Because God is also just. He doesn't believe in winning by eliminating the competition but by facing it and winning fair and square.
