I am an atheist, but i have no problem with religion. I personally do not believe in god, but if you do good for you. What i hate is when people spend a long time trying to get me to admit that they are right and that there is a god. It sucks when people do this because if you argue against some one you offend their religion and they get all pissy.
My problems with Christianity:
1. No physical proof at all
2. If Noah was real, wouldn't every one be the same race as him?
3. Splitting the sea??
4. If god is all powerful and wants what is best for us, why do children get sick and die before they get a chance to live? Either god is not all powerful, or he does not want the best for humanity.
5. Christians only comeback is "it is part of his plan"

". No physical proof at all
The universe, Jesus' tomb, evidence of a flood in the Mediterranean (the Bible never says the whole world), the Bible, prophies coming true, independant historians making record of Jesus, i believe calling him the "king of the jews"
Tucking:
I never said there was not a Jesus, i said there was not a god. I happen to know many Jesus' one is my gardener.
The universe- before you can use the universe as proof of what god made you need to prove there is a god.
Many people make prophesies including witches, palm readers, etc. If i am correct Christians do not like witches. Think avout it.

Because believers value faith. They think it's better to have faith in something rather than nothing. Nonbelief threatens that ideology.

I think Christianity's wack, but I've been arguing with them so long I wanted to give your challenge a try.
1. No physical proof at all
The universe, Jesus' tomb, evidence of a flood in the Mediterranean (the Bible never says the whole world), the Bible, prophies coming true, independant historians making record of Jesus, i believe calling him the "king of the jews"
2. If Noah was real, wouldn't every one be the same race as him?
There was more than Noah and his family, but it is hard to believe he grabbed a few black people, a few asians, a few spaniards, a few natives, a few yeah you get the point.
3. Splitting the sea??
There has been scientests that say at certain points at the right tide, and with an eastern wind as described in the bible that the red sea would be crossable for short amounts of time as described.
4. If god is all powerful and wants what is best for us, why do children get sick and die before they get a chance to live? Either god is not all powerful, or he does not want the best for humanity.
All diseases seem to be our fault, even bacteria, which he would have had to create. Mostly he wants us to have free will and does not want to interfere in this world.
An aside, have you ever noticed that when you or someone gets sick it's because you're stressed out. So maybe people closer to God have him take away their stress, and therefore their disease. Oh that's a stretch huh?
5. Christians only comeback is "it is part of his plan"
Well it would be true that God's plan would be a mystery to us, I think his plan seems to be to put us in fairly neutral lives, and get us to choose him while satan lures us away with temporary highs like sex, gambling, drinking, drugs, the seven sins and such.
Oh man being a christian is hard work.
HEY!!
"I never said there was not a Jesus, i said there was not a god. I happen to know many Jesus' one is my gardener."
But a human being accepted as "the King of the Jews" would fulfill the prophicies from God proving God.
"The universe- before you can use the universe as proof of what god made you need to prove there is a god."
Well how else do you think the universe got created? Something so complex as the universe could only be intelligent design.
"Many people make prophesies including witches, palm readers, etc. If i am correct Christians do not like witches. Think avout it."
Christians hate witches, but no one else correctly predicted the coming of the Son of God.
Being Christian is all about circular reasoning. "Why is the Bible true?" "Because the Bible says so"
It gets tiring.

Physical proof? Your eye has like a trillion Optical nerves. How do they all come together without connecting to your arm.
Your heart actually beats without the aide of your brain. Its the only muscle that does not rely on the brain to beat.
Have you ever heard of someone being in your life to show you or teach you something?? We are all here for some reason or another. you should spent more time with the elderly or the sick, you'd would feel it.
God is all powerful but we created all our sicknesses when Eve ate of the apple.
There is a place in the Red Sea that Chariots without there wheels are under the water with bones of humans:
Exodus 14:25. And overthrew the wheels of the chariots, and they were carried into the deep. And the Egyptians said: Let us flee from Israel; for the Lord fighteth for them against us.
Plus, most of the reason that Christians are very upset is due to persecution. I can't wear a Christian shirt to school, but someone else could wear a shirt deemed 'evil' with no problem. I can't pray in public because it offends one person that saw me, but now, the fact that Christians can't pray has offended all Christians but that doesn't matter to the public.

I am sorry if you have felt attacked or threatened by anyone professing to be a Christian. So often we as humans tend to come out swinging when our backs are up against the wall. For every action there is a reaction and just like any group of individuals there are different maturity levels and personalities. I think that you can agree that it goes both ways. How many questions concerning Christians, are on this site that are not only degrading but also just plain rude. Case in point - Which is worse Christianity or Downs syndrome? I am afraid that I lost it a little in responding to that one -Sorry.
The enjoyable part of this site for me is when we can share each others veiws and agree to disagree. You can bring a horse to water but you can not make it drink. As Christians we call this freewill.
As for your personal probs with Christianity. May I respectfully answer those ?
1. I and many others like myself can give personal testomonies that would offer very physical proof. The problem is that you would have to take my word for it and well, we don't know each other so I get where there is a trust problem.
2. According to some of the theories of evolution, Noah's family could have evolved into different races from natural selection, survival of the fittest and environmental influences --- I know Darwin's therories and agree with a lot of it.
3.Remember the tsunami - there are natural disasters all over the world every day -which sometimes seem to bizarre to be true even when we see them for ourselves on tv.
4. Who am I to say what the life of one who dies would be like if they were to live? Maybe in God's mercy He brings some home sooner than others. As a Christian I believe that we, in our freewill choices, allowed sin to come into the world. We are not puppets on a string. If God fixed everything -then He would have to take our freewill away because if not than we would continue to make bad choices. I am glad that I am not a puppet on a string and so I can accept that bad things can happen -I don't like it but I trust that God will work it out.
5. I am sorry if you have ran into one dimensional thinking. There is some of that in every veiw point. But believe me when I say that God and my beliefs are not one diminsional.
All I can tell you is that I appreciate and respect your question and I hope that you have a great night and that maybe we understand each other a little better now :)

Is Atheism a religion? I think you should post in the society section. Unless you need to settle the going to hell issue. If you don't have a need to worship God- then eternal separation from God is your choice and you have a place to practice it both now and forever so you're in luck. I hope you're ok with your decision, there's alot riding on your choice. There is a day coming when everyone will be judged. Will you be a sheep or a goat? I can't fix your concerns but someday I know you will need God more than He needs you. Why do the wicked die screaming and cursing if Jesus is not real?

I am so much on your side, man. I have this problem too. I have suffered from quite a few religious people who would only want me to listen to them. If I say a single word against it, they are starting to say such arguments as: "Where do you think the world has come from?" - oh, come on! That is getting old. Don't they have anything else to ask. Ok, if I say something about the Big Bang Theory, which, by the way, sounds way more realistic, they will try to shut me up and keep going with their blah, blah, blah, genesis - like I never heard it before.
Has anyone seen me walking back and forth, stopping other people and saying: "Stop believing what you believe. Throw your bible away. It's all lies."? There is not a person who had heard it from me personally. Nobody can drag me into Christianity and I can't drag anyone out of it. I know it is hopeless and I don't want to waste my time. I am wondering why do they like to waste my time by telling me THE SAME OLD BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING STORY. "Oh, I am a different person now; oh, I love to go to church; oh, Jesus has died for me and I love him for it; why don't you come to the church and hear more about it?" - why did I have to meet that person that day?
I would agree that people are free to believe what they want, but are they free to force other people to believe what they think is right? Why would they not leave me alone? There are so many annoying people in this world. If they ever hear me curse at them, it's nothing, but their fault.
End of the story.

Atheists are attacked for the same reasons that they attack people with religious beliefs, or even different religions attack each other. People fear what they don't know or understand, or they feel the need to prove that they're right and get uber defensive.
I'm a Christian and I personally don't see the need to bash on people for their belief, or lack of one. I also don't see the need to shove my beliefs down someone's throat, it's right for me but might not be for someone else. In a perfect world, that will never exist, we would all be open minded and just get along.

Religion is a personal matter and everybody should have a choice to practice it or not. Those who try to convert others are not tolerant.
Belief in some sort of absolute power helps many people when life gets tough. That's perfectly fine. If they believe strongly it's hard for them to imagine that someone else doesn't share their belief. If I were you I wouldn't get involved in arguments concerning religion. Tell them you respect their point of view and you would appreciate the same from them. End of discussion.

I feel ya! I am a witch and I get to hear I'm going to hell, that all pagans and witches should be burned, etc. Also, I get to hear all about God's plan for our salvation...
All I want is to be left alone. Freedom of Religion and all that...and of course Freedom to not believe in a god if you so wish. Live and let live.
EDIT- Excuse me, JLT, but how do you know how capable I am to love another? I love deeply and faithfully. I do not believe it is your place to tell me how much I can or cannot love another. I would never presume to tell someone "if you are not a witch, then you are incapable of loving another as I am." Sounds pretty stupid doesn't it?Think before you speak.

The difference between insanity, a cult, and a religion is in numbers alone.
If one person believes something with no evidence whatsoever, he's insane.
If a small group do, they're a cult.
If a large number do, it's a religion.
They're worried that reason will wear away the foundation of Christianity and render it a cult. Or, worse, the blatherings of an insane idiot.

First of all, as a Christian I agree that atheists get attacked. I think, at least for myself, that when I hear someone say they don't believe there is a God at all, I'm staggered - it just doesn't compute. I've believed for so long that it is just assumed in my little world.
The typical, or I should say most frequent, conversation about faith isn't dealing with if there is a God or not, but it deals with details concerning him.
I think there are arguments that can be made to support my faith, and there are arguments to be made challenging your belief. There are hundreds of Christian author's who deal with this topic in great depth, and hit on your 5 questions. So the comment that 'Christians only comeback is "it is part of his plan" isn't accurate.
I am not a theologian, so my arguments only go so far in their depth and breadth. But to rely sole on folks like me to provide a thorough defense of Christianity is not intellectually honest on your part if you are looking for a rigorous defense.
There are plenty of folks on 'ask' that show a testy approach to a challenge on both sides of the atheist / theist q&a - plenty of atheists are showing an honery approach.
Peace to you
