1 Thessalonians 4:16 says: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, "with" the voice of the archangel, and "with" the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

If Jehovah Witnesses believe the words "with the voice of the Archangel" is referring to the voice of Jesus, why don't they also believe "with the trump of God" refers to Jesus as God? Both references are made in the same sentence, and preceded by the word "with".

I personally believe that Jesus and Michael are not the same.

But based on the way Jehovah Witnesses are rationalizing this scripture, using the wording within the verse, I could understand why they might incorrectly assume Jesus, Michael the Archangel, and God are seperate, but I can not understand how they would reach the conclusion that Jesus is Michael?

Maybe someone can explain the logic behind this for me? Thanks.

so my younger sister was all trying to get the last piece of pie and she took it before i could get it. I smacked her over the head and yelled God says men come before women! and the pie dropped on the floor. Now my older sister is yelling at me to clean it up. Should i tell her that she is second to man? should i tell her god told me so? she is bigger than me, so will god help me?

If i had a child and they disapointed me for the first 5 years of their life; would it be just for me to lock them in a sauna and have them tortured every minute of every day for the rest of their life?

The Bible says that's fair and just... what do you say?

Such churches include the United Church of Christ, most Episcopal Churches, and many Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, and even Baptist congregations, among others.

As a guest, would you be share communion with the membership of such a church, including the gay members?

Why or why not?

Atheists have a very valid point that without concrete proof the scriptures could very easily be mythological or whatever. Why would God not present us with concrete proof?

He does in the Qur'an covering many scientific fields. This includes the developmental stage of a fetus, the creation of planets and stars and lots more. I was astounded when I came across this.

I admire the skepticism of many atheists it is the same skepticism that led me to Islam.

019.027 Then she brought him to her own folk, carrying him. They said: O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing.
019.028 "O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"
019.029 Then she pointed to him. They said: How can we talk to one who is in the cradle, a young boy?
019.030 He said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me revelation and made me a prophet;
019.031 "And He hath made me blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;
019.032 (He) hath made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable;
019.033 Peace on me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!

The bible says that God knows all. To God, there is nothing new under the sun.

If infinity is a variable, God is in trouble, because new things are being created that he didn't already know before, that he is having to learn as the universe expands. Since there is nothing new to God, infinity cannot expand beyond infinity.

If infinity is a constant, God is in trouble, because he knows all there is. Knowing all there is, leaves no room for new stuff to occur, since it violates God's no new stuff under the sun condition.

However, new stuff that hasn't happened yet is happening, as expected in a variable infinity.

Does this mean that God is logically impossible?

The Archangel Michael said "the Lord rebuke thee" when Satan challenged him. Also, Jesus is called Lord in the Bible, and rebuked demons often. So why do certain religous groups such as the Jehovah Witnesses believe Jesus and Michael the Archangel are the same?

"Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, "You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" Genesis 3:1

Who is the serpent? Why is the serpent able to converse with humans?

The scripture below shows that the serpent is not figurative:

"Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall eat dust all the days of your life." Genesis 3:14

fundamentalists erroneously portray the creationism/evolution struggle as if todays scientist have "hijacked" the scientifical dialogue.
most all scientists believe that evolution is true
fundamentalists portray these scientists as being belligerently closeminded
that couldn't be further from the truth.
to these scientist, they genuinely feel that the overwhelming evidence for it makes it at the very least,
VERY, VERY likely that it is true.

It is a shameless fallacy to declare that evolution is "satan's deception."
people do not sinfully choose to believe in evolution.
evolution is grounded in EARNEST INQUIRY.

Isn't it theologically unsound to decry evolution as against god?

Do you understand this book?

Do you interpret it literally or figuratively?

Do you think the events mentioned have come/ are coming to pass? If so, name them.

Do you think that Jesus' second coming will be before you die? Why? Are you afraid of death?

Is it possible that Jesus' second coming won't happen before you die?

I used to believe that the world was about to come to an end back in 1999 because I was more impressionable than I am today, but now I am skeptical about this religious claim. Haven't people been saying this for centuries?

This isn't really a question, more like a rant, however... This is for the people who say "Sex before marriage is okay if you love the person."

... Okay, first off, let's use our heads here... Teenagers go through about 50 people that they "truly love" before they even get out of high school!! How can you give that type of advice to these people??

When I was 10 I loved Jonathan Taylor Thomas!! Does that mean if I had wanted to have sex with him because I "loved" him that it would have made it okay??

We all know that lust is all too commonly thought of as love these days, and I really don't think that some of you people should be giving that type of advice to people that ask for answers..

By the way... How would you guys feel if someone on here was giving the same kind of advice about pre-marital sex to your children??
