consider the analogy we are like children and god is our parent.. we only have one opportunity to make the right choice otherwise we get eternal punishment

normal parents usually dont give up no matter how many bad things/mistakes their children make and certainly wouldn't punish them for life for anything..

so God is like a military style dad who will only love us if we are perfect and worship him?

Nearly all the Christians I know be they Catholic or Protestant say they idea that Christians left the shores of Europe to convert people by barbaric acts is totally untrue. They say it is non Christians who made this up to stop people following Christianity.
They also claim that the many Popes have never strayed from the teaching of Christ event though history has proved they have murdered, married there own family members and had children with their own relatives?
Christians say Islam is a religion of murder etc and say theres is a religion of love. When a Muslim kills someone its because they say Islam is a religion of hate and ALL muslims are the same.
Yet, when a christian kills someone or commits a terrorist act they say they are NOT a christian a case of double standards?

On the one hand, John was one of Jesus three closest friends and was with him from the beginning of his ministry (excluding the baptism and the fasting in the desert).

Yet on the other hand, Paul was very well educated, he firmly knew the Jewish law, he knew the predictions the Messiah must fulfill.. in other words Paul knew theology very well. He knew everything from Roman sports to Greek puns, and his writing is like PhD level Greek while the fisherman John is like elementary school Greek.

So basically it is between a close friend or a PhD. Who is more reliable? Is the same thing true in history? Is a scholar more credible than a friend?

KJV Matthew 23:9 "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."

JST Matthew 23:9 "And call no one your creator upon the earth, or your heavenly Father; for one is your creator and heavenly Father, even he who is in heaven."

... especially since God said "I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake." (KJV Genesis 26:24) and said, "Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him." (KJV Isaiah 51:2)

Why do your priests not marry? Who else in the world fulfills this prediction which is in strict opposition to the teachings of Paul who firmly declares that a bishop (or priest) should be a married man? Are you acquainted with the fact that for several centuries the priests did marry honorably and had families?

I am christian but I haven't 'studied' the bible as such, only attended church as a child and studied religion at school.
I saw the movie 'Da Vinci Code' last night, where it gives reference to Mary Magdalene as Jesus' wife.. I thought she was his mother????
I was raised in Germany, where I got taught 'Maria Magdalena' was Jesus' mother, so forgive my ignorance, but I would really like someone to fill me in.

Please: No idiots or smart alecs... I am genuinly confused and interested.

I have always been a believer in a higher power, never brought up in a religious family, have been to clairvoyants and am quite intuitive myself as well as being a lovely person. I know people who are "christians" but do the most obsurd and judgemental things ever!!! and then preach to me about the lord and me becoming saved etc....why do they impose this on people especially when they are talkn through"god"....??? Confused.!

Why do Catholics call the Pope "Holy Father" and nearly every priest "father" when Jesus says, "And call none father upon the earth: for one is your father, who is in heaven."?

This might look like a repeat of the question I asked earlier this month. I am still not completely convinced.

I understand that God is the creator of everything and everyone on this planet earth dead and alive - that I don't question! You can take it to the extreme if you like, everyone is not just known by God, but made by him. But Jesus is uniquely different, not only because of the things he said and did - but also because of the manner in which he came to this earth. He did not come as other people do, and he certainly did not come as the first Adam came. His coming was distinctly different and unique. Even the prophets never came in such a unique manner.

My question therefore still stands, what makes you to be so sure, so certain and so convinced that Jesus Christ is not at all the only begotten son of God and a savior?

What If They Gave a War and Everyone Came

What if they gave a war and everyone came;
Every senator’s son and daughter.
Every senator too and me and you:
Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Moslem, Jew, in barter.

What if Yale and Harvard went port to starboard,
Sending every scholastic son and daughter.
And “Think Tanks” had to go, committing “who know”
To clean up after the slaughter.
Yes, there’d still be war, but we’d know what for
When we buried our brave sons and daughters.

You can be reported and your question removed for "insulting" other participants. But sometimes the truth only seems like an insult, i.e. when it is truly the case but the offended party doesn't want to believe it. If someone is arguably an idiot and someone tells them so, is that really an insult?
