Suppose I went to church (yeah, I know, that's a stretch! LOL) and the pastor in his sermon goes on and on about how all of us are sinners, and we're not good enough for the Biblical god, and furthermore we should stop having sex.

Then, a little while later, after they've insulted me, called me names, and presumed to give me advice about my personal life, they pass a collection plate around and ask for my money.

Does anyone besides me think this takes a lot of gall?

Try to keep it simple people. I'm looking for a few words, not bible verses or life stories. Unless provoked or asked. Whose word do you follow? What would you die for? How far should people go on behalf of their faith? What do you think of the idea of religion in general and why what you believe is the answer or not the answer? I'm not here to judge you I'm just curious. Satisfy me!

If you folks just said you obeyed because you had to....ok...I could see it....if you said...I'm afraid...fine....

But with all due respect...if God behaves that way...he's a raving lunatic...you shouldn't love him.

And don't give me it's his laws, and his ways are not our ways.....

We're people...and if he's immoral by our standards...and he is....he;s immoral. You are loving something that all human morals say is nauseating.

Perhaps the time and energy spent arguing about a hypothetical afterlife would be better used here in the real world.

On my previous question, I noticed many references to God judging men, etc. Does this let women off the hook when it comes to God's judgment or is it the fact that most Christian believers have little understanding about how to properly exegete the scriptures they love to recite (oh, the damage old King James did to the Greek and Hebrew language to justify his divorce)? Or finally, is it just the perpetuation of past and present misogynistic attitudes towards women in general? This is especially interesting given the biblical fact that Jesus crossed the social barriers of his time to be inclusive of women so that they, too, could be empowered!

Seriously, if Heaven is like the Church pictures it, wouldn't you soon get bored? Would you get sleepy like you do in Church?

Is Heaven simply an escape from the pains we suffer here on Earth?

In Heaven, will you get into arguments with your fellow Christians, like you do here on Earth?

Is their belief of atheism makes them less responsible of doing good things. The only things I heard from them where negative. I don't hear happiness, joy, love, and encouragement like Christians do. It is like if they don't have hope for their lifes'.

"life and time do not exist in the world of fact, but only in the world of thought, and that world will not exist when I die, plus if I am right, the same thing will happen to you, no matter who you believe in."

That person has an interesting idea on religious views. What do you think about it?

Christians don't flame it either, you have to be respectful of others options, God would want that ;3

Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of new Christian music, but I am tired of Christian music that could easily be referring to a boyfriend or girlfriend with it's ambiguity. Is anyone else? I miss the Hymns they were so beautifully written and filled with Spiritual and Theological meaning.

Usually an atheist is an atheist because he knows there's no evidence of a god and that the probability of one existing is vanishingly low.

What's there to research?

The Bible? Nope... it is of no evidence.
The universe? That's why he's atheist along with over 95% of scientists.
