Perhaps the time and energy spent arguing about a hypothetical afterlife would be better used here in the real world.

The biggest problem with religion is that it allows people to put off until "tomorrow" what needs to be done "today". They always think they have another life, or death to fix the problems that are plaguing this world so they ignore them. I don't know why they'd ever think their prejudice, persecution, intolerance and hatred are good things, but they do. Their religion allows them to ignore that they're bad things and say "But we'll fix it tomorrow".

If people started living in the real world today, maybe we could start to solve all these problems instead of always saying "I'll do it tomorrow".

I think the first answer pretty much sums it up lol. No seriously though, YES we could solve more real world problems! The promise of an afterlife makes poeple have morals that are based around that which is a slippery slope.

No. When they do, they usually make things worse.

The Crusades, many of the religious wars over the centuries, and abstinence based sex ed are only 3 examples.

I wish they'd think more about their own personal afterlife, and less about other peoples' lives (either real life, or afterlife.)

It also about time the non-believers did more for this world beside talking about the religious people. Ever see any atheist organization ministering to the poor in a third world country? I don't think so. Why is it that arrogant and prideful go hand in hand with an atheist? Talk about holier-than-thou. Please.

Just put your hand to the plow and stop the divergent tactics. What you do think, that if you can get everyone looking at the religious people they might not notice that the atheists are doing anything?

perchance by way of fact there are greater significant issues to do, like, oh i do no longer know, discovering the treatment for cancer, ALS, and different issues like that. there is not any thank you to disprove God scientifically (that is problematical to instruct or disprove something that could no longer be measured, seen, or popular in any tangible way), and what might come from the attempt? Waste of money and time? How might you flow approximately proving that God would not exist interior the 1st place? a million. i don't have self assurance in a youthful earth, and that i think of evolution is amazingly achievable. 2. they could be, yet we will not know while the top circumstances come until eventually they arrive, so there is little need attempting to make ridiculous claims. Oh, and the scientific community can no longer *know* that this is fake by way of fact no one can see into the destiny. they're sensible human beings, and regardless of the certainty that they'll likely say that this is amazingly inconceivable, they does no longer make the conceited fact that they could see into the destiny. 3. i'm all in favour of gay marriage. i think of the sin is pursuing sexual activities outdoors of marriage, so the way I see it, we are exceptionally a lot forcing them to sin by utilising no longer permitting them to get married. that is ridiculous. 4. No, ideas do no longer likely intend to make experience. Are you going to police human beings to ascertain that their ideas make experience? Who might decide that? What is sensible to you will possibly no longer make experience to somebody else. 5. No, regular perception would not mean reality. The Nazis and KKK all appeared to agree basically superb, and that they got here to comparable conclusions, yet they weren't precisely the main obvious bunch, have been they? 6. Like I stated, i think of the US could be greater advantageous off if the psychological communities concentrated their efforts on enhancing the worldwide rather of attempting to diminish down the internal maximum ideals of thousands and thousands of human beings.

Jesus Christ IS reality. Everything that exists exists by Him and for Him.

As for your second statement, Christians do a lot for "real" problems. We run soup kitchens, charity hospitals and donate more time and money and resources to helping alleviate the backlash caused by a world "looking out for number one," trying to be "the one who dies with the most toys," and seeking above all else, personal peace and affluence than any other group you can name. And we do it because a very real God has filled our very real hearts with a very real love.

EDIT: The more responses I read from unbelievers the more I see the truth in 1st Corinthians 2:14, which says, "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned." It also shows that many of those so critical of Christianity know next to nothing about its belief system or the role the church plays in the modern secular world.

well, they truly believe in the afterlife. therefore, it does make sense to prepare for an eternal of afterlife than the short 80 years that they have on this filthy planet that they gave up on. a bit on the selfish/self centered side, imho, but sensible.

Man can’t solve the real problems of the world because he doesn’t want to admit that he is the problem. Christianity addresses the basic problem of the sin nature of man, and anyone who mocks and scorns Jesus Christ is representing the problem inherent in the nature of mankind.
