Not really. Christianity has always had on thing that could
get followers more than anything else...Hellfire stories.
Fear is one of the most powerful tools and they definitely
used it to it's fullest.

I love God. I choose to do His will. I'm going to live in His presence forever.
You don't love God. You choose to do your own will (and how's your life going?) You, by your own choice are not going to live in His presence forever.
