The Church of Scientology has consistently sought to recruit artists and entertainers, particularly Hollywood celebrities. The Church runs special recruitment facilities for public figures designated Celebrity Centres (CCs). There are eight of these centres across the world, though Hollywood is the largest and most important. Scientologists give this description:[citation needed]

“ L. Ron Hubbard recognized the importance of the artist to society. Thus he created Celebrity Centre International — a Church of Scientology that specializes in delivering Dianetics and Scientology services to celebrities, professionals, leaders and promising new-comers in the fields of the arts, sports, management and government. ”

The sites are not celebrity-exclusive and offer courses to non-celebrities at all levels; most visitors are non-celebrities.

Publicity has been generated by Scientologists in the entertainment industry. The most well-known of these figures include John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Beck, Jason Lee (actor), Isaac Hayes, Tom Cruise, and Cruise's convert wife Katie Holmes.

Critics say the attention and care given to celebrity practitioners is vastly different from that of noncelebrity practitioners. Andre Tabayoyon, a former Scientologist and Sea Org staffer, testified in a 1994 affidavit that money from not-for-profit Scientology organizations and labor from those organizations (including the Rehabilitation Project Force) had gone to provide special facilities for Scientology celebrities, which were not available to other Scientologists:

The Scientology Organisation has separate area for celebrities for a few simple reasons.

1 How could a non-celeb. study in a room full of millionaire celeb?

2 Celebrities are celebrities because of a skill or ability they have, good or bad, they are opinion leaders. They do command more attention, wouldn't you?

3 As a non-celeb. I either make my lunch or pay $10 for an ok meal. A celebrity is not going to always be ok with salad and chips.

4 Ron Hubbard made some very valid points about a society that attacks and denies artist to create.

5 Other reason may be found at the celebrity section of www.scientology.org

Well, because celebrities are not scientists, they will not argue with scientologists on simple scientific facts. Have you ever seen a famous geologist or cardio surgeon or a nuclear physicist joint their silly cult? No, because for example, a geologist would argue all the way through about basic geological facts that L Ron Hubbard fails to recognise (as he's had no education about history of the Earth - he claims he can remember everything to minute details). A celebrity, however, wouldn't argue so the scientology leaders lick their asses and give them royal treatments. Of course, vain celebrities like that. And on top of everything, celebrities have shed loads of money that they can spend at the expensive scientology centres.

Scientology doesn't cater to anyone's vanity.
It's about spiritual awareness ..... not physical beauty and definitely not self importance.
Get real.... artists work a lot harder and contribute a lot more to our culture than the average guy. They put themselves out there to communicate their art. Celebrity isn't why they do it and i celebrity isn't such an easy thing to deal with when it does happen.
People pay money for what they create, so it is obviously wanted, oherwise they would have to choose some other profession.
Hollywood is NOT an easy place to survive in as an artist.
That's why Scientology helps artists.
Since when was getting well paid for what you can do and having money to buy the things you want such a bloody crime anyway ??

They put them in first class. It is very perverted. I lived in LA my whole life and know the ins and outs of Hollywood. It is a magnet that some of these deranged publicity whores cannot avoid.
