I am very greatly fascinated by the book of Jonah. What fascinates me the most though at times is my complete faith in the entire Bible. Sometime logic or what you would call reasoning is defeated by this kind of faith.

I don't know what made me to think about the book of Jonah in particular - but it is one of those stories that when you read them, you cannot help but ask the question "did really really take place?"
And then you are reminded that "this is the word of God and everything recorded therein is true in its entirety, no matter how illogical and unreasonable it may look."

Have you ever been in that situation?? A man in the belly of a fish three days and three nights in the sea - and he communicates with God. I think that's amazing, and it needs amazing faith to believe that completely.

Have you ever thought of the suffering of God which was so great that his body shook with pain and blood burst forth from every pore of his body? And for whom did he suffer? Not for himself, but for every living soul who will repent and accept his gospel. That was a manifestation of his great love for all of us mortal beings. By not taking advantage of the great Atonement through belief and repentance, you make Christ's sufferings for your personal pains, sicknesses and sins mean nothing. You're basically slapping him in the face and saying, I do not care if you suffered for me. You put Christ to an open shame and crucify Him unto yourself!

take things too seriously? One of my favorite things to do is ask an esoteric, facetious question. It's very amusing to read the serious answers.

I had this taxi driver today go hysterical when I mentioned Jesus to him. He yelled at me, and threatend to take me to a police station. The police would have laughed at him. As soon as he droped me of at my mothers house he went nuts. He saw these people walking down the street and he yelled "Get this lady out of my taxi, because she was talking about the Lord Jesus" He threatened to hit me. I stood there saying go on then, because if he did I had witnesses around and would have gone straight to the police. My mother said that Satan is trying to make my life misserable, and that this man has already got his fate sealed. I was so angry I told him I was going to report him to the taxi company to make sure he did not drive another taxi again. I told my mother that he was not a child of God, but a child of the devil. He was in the head. That does not give atheists a good name.My mother said let God handle it. As God said "vengence is mine said the Lord, I will repay" I mean you would

This question is not to cause trouble so please don't think it is. I am asking because I am ignorant to your beliefs. I have always been told that your religion believes only a certain number of people will go to heaven. I always thought it was 200,000 or 250,000 but just read on an old question 144,000. Either way in the 2,007 years since Christ's death don't you think that many people have already found their way to heaven. That is only between 72 and 125 people a year depending on what the total number is. What happens to all the people that did wonderful things in their life that are not one of the chosen ones. I have always believed that every religion interprets the bible differently and I have never said mine was better than the next. I just don't understand yours because according to your own beliefs most of you won't be going to heaven. Is that not what we all hope for. (believers that is)Please forgive me if I am way off base, like I said I am ignorant to your beliefs.

I once had an idea that the events that occur after you die are not set in stone. And basically that they are structured by your beliefs. I know this may be a farfetched idea. And all we have as humans is logic and fantasies, but I think I should stick with my beliefs. And again anyone else out there kind of think the same?

I'm a peaceful Muslim who does not believe in fundamentalism or extremism and believes in peace. Yet many evangelical Christians would still deem me as Satanic and misguided. What is the reason for this? Won't Christians be ever satisified unless you're Christian?

If I want to read the bible, I want to read a version that is the closest translation to from where it has been translated. I've heard from other topics like this that the KJV isn't a popular book but widely used in churches and whatnot, and since I know there are other versions of it, I doubt I will be satisfied with just a KJV. What version would you reccomend to me?

Please, this is a serious question seeking serious answers, and I would appricate it if my question were not rittled with immature responses.
Thanks!

Right... relgious folk like christians and islamics and others...

Go on about how pure and good they are, moral this and that, and all pieous.

With proper smart clothes and order and neatness and short back and sides haircuts

Slating gays, witches, pagans, swingers and heavey metallyers with all their paganistic and skulls and so called satanic imagery as evil scum. With scruffy long coloured hair, wild and messy clubs, and agrerssive dancing. Or say goths looking like vampires.

So explain why these goth, metal, witch/wicca, pagan and gay groups in the clubs have little if any need for bouncers as there is never any trouble. How many are veges.

Most are nice as pie and caring and passionate and artistic, talented and all look after others. Often far more poltically aware as well. Into peacful lives and chilling.

With only getting violent in the face of severe abuse ie the school shooting was the snapping result of years of systematic bullying and isolation

Ok, this is about my friend that doesnt have a computer to make a yahoo account (no, it isn't secretly about me, I would say it if it was). Ok, so he went out with this girl for almost a year, and they broke up and they were like perfect together from what he told me and they loved eachother, talked about marriage, just about the same two people. Well they broke up and he was so desperate because he thought she was perfect, and casted a love spell, and maybe a month at most (not sure exactly) she ended up wanting to get back together. 5 monthes later, which is now, they broke up, and he is considering using this love spell again, because he thinks it brought her back, and he thinks theyre are small problems that they dont seem to bother to try and work out (if two people are meant to be, it doesnt mean they cant have these unexpected breaks). But he wants to know what sort of karma he can get from this, because she may of still loved him before, and MIGHT now, whats the karma?

I as a Scientologist want you to be you. I want all people to excell in their chosen fields. I want religion to continue to lead man away from war and insanity. I want a planet free of suppression. I encourage dialogue as long as its intent is learning and understanding. I do what I can to understand this life and my role within it. I look for a bigger game. I am interested in the survival of all beings whatever their faith. Be true to yourself and observe life and know you have observed it. A Scientologist.

Where do I begin, hey here is an idea, how about at the beginning. First, Muhammad, when out and about was alledgedly visited by the arch angel Gabriel. Muhammad, was convinced he was seeing the devil himself or some demon and ran home shaking, apparently scared by what he witnessed. When his wife, Khadija, asked him what was wrong, he told her the story of what happened and after that, she convinces him his vision was true and urges him to go back out there. So Islam should be credited to her after all without her urging Muhammad wouldn't have gone back out there and islam would be obsolete. Secondly, when your visited by a true angel, although you may be in awe you would NEVER mistake an angel of light for something as sinister as a demon or even the devil himself. Thirdly, the koran, existed after Muhammads death in part due to his apparent illiteracy in which followers compiled various writings from leaves ,rocks, etc. leaving room for error of judgement by his supporters.

You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments.
